Here it comes: AA eliminates free alcohol in F, raise price in Y (Apr 1)
From the Journal:

While American Airline's parent AMR Corporation has titled its return to profitability as the "Win Together" plan, customers might feel like they are taking the brunt of the the changes. American has already eliminated free food from most domestic flights and is now taking a swipe at the customers once considered untouchable: First Class and Business passengers. As of May 1, AMR Corp will limit passengers in the front cabin to two alcoholic beverages per flight, with additional drinks costing $5 each. According to spokeswoman Merrill Morgan, "Most passengers in First class are upgraded for free or flying on frequent flyer tickets. With oil over $100 per barrel, the value proposition for free alcoholic beverages was simply inconsistent with the market. We still believe that two free drinks should satisfy any customer who is not a lush." In addition, prices for drinks in Coach will increase as much as 50%, based on the type...

Sorry guys, I never get to leave the April Fool's comment. I've been planning this for a while. BTW, there's one more out there. No, I don't have a life.

Very well done. I was halfway thru a response about just how difficult it would be to monitor who had 2 drinks and thus would have to pay for a 3rd, and what if I didn't drink, could I order for the person sitting next to me, etc.. etc.. when I looked at the calendar.

Brilliant. I was here wondering "domestic only?" I was thinking that two on a typical domestic flight is OK...but they'd better not be doing this with international.
AA folks reading this thread- BAD IDEA!
Cheers.
