Has Miles plus Co-pay gone ?

The Europe to USA co-pay seems to have disappeared from aa.com. Am I been unobservent and it has just moved (I've looked but can't see it anywhere else) or is it gone ?

Doesn't look like it.

Now I am confused. I'm sure that AA still flies from Europe to the US.

Indeed they do but until last week you could co-pay miles and money for both complete tickets and also for upgrades-however the flight co-pay option has either moved or vanished.

This is getting more confusing. To my knowledge, AA does not have a system in which you combine $$ and miles for an award ticket.

There are essentially four options for upgrades:

#1 - buy a Y ticket that seats you in a premium cabin (Y-up, K-up fares)
#2 - use an eVIP to upgrade a coach ticket of almost any class
#3 - use 10,000 miles to upgrade a full fare coach ticket
#4 - use 25,000 + copay (300?) to upgrade from a coach ticket of almost any class.

Yes they do (or did-possibly)
I've purchased these in the past.
Until last week there was a (small) link to these deals on the award chart
Here's a link to when these reduced mileage co-pays were first implemented

Learn something new everyday. However, the link you posted was from 1998 - so I think it is possible that perhaps AA has changed the program.

Indeed it might....as the third line of my last post states !!
There's plenty of more recent posts about the reduced mileage co-pays I posted the oldest to illustrate it's a long standing award

I think you're thinking of the BA site which allows you to purchase a ticket with money and miles.

No, there WAS an upgrade with co-pay. My husband and I flew to LHR and on to MUC last October and used miles plus a $300 per person per segment "co-payment" to upgrade (the option #4 bdemaria mentioned above). I wasn't thrilled that it tacked $1,200 onto the airfare even though I know what the usual rate is for Business Class. No upgrade on the LHR-MUC segments, since they were BA.

Upgrade with miles and copay does exist but the OP is talking about purchasing tickets with miles and copay -- which is possible on the BA site but the additional taxes and fuel surcharges alone make in not worthwhile.

Mileage upgrades w/co-pays - such as you outlined - are not in doubt and still exist. Apparently, there is also an option to purchase tickets using a combination of miles and money.

Cash & Miles has been a long-running NW promotion. Such tickets do not earn miles or status. If AA has offered these they never caught my attention.

Though I am a bit vague on the details, there was indeed a program where one could purchase award tickets for reduced miles and make up the difference with money - as the number of miles decreased, the amount of money increased. I've never contemplated using it, and do not know if it still exists.
