Thumbs down Widebody Downgrades at MIA

There seems to be a big load of equipment downgrades at MIA following the start of the summer schedule at the end of March/beginning of April including but not limited to:

MIA-DFW 777 to 757
MIA-SFO 767 to 757
MIA-BOS 777 to 757

There are a few 757 to 737 downgrades on LAX, as well as a few A300 downgrades to South America.

All in all not good news for domestic travellers and those that target the widebodies for the superior F seats (and the free J seats on MIA-DFW) but good news for international travellers where the destinations are being ramped up I suppose.

I normally fly in/out of FLL or PBI but am going out of MIA this week to DFW and was able to snag the last F seat on the 777. ^

Glad I did it this week as I have never been in F on 777 before and looks like I won't have the chance on this route again for a while.

Probably for seasonal international routes during the summer.

While I don't know the routes, there's little doubt that these planes are being moved to summer international routes, for which I have to give a big ^^^.

That would be considered an upgrade in my book.

I agree. Do you think there is any chance they will make JFK-FCO a 777 route?

Though not posted yet, if you take a look at this web page on the AA Cargo site, you can get some idea of current info, changes and such. Have a look at the links on the right hand side of the page.

Ok I admit it it was me. I called the Platinum desk and complained about AAs lack of service on some routes. They told me that they would have to reallocate the wide bodies from somewhere to add new european routes. The new routes I requested were:

JFK-TXL
JFK-AMS
JFK-ATH.

So I guess they will be making the press announcement soon. Maybe next month I'll call and have JFK-LAX extended into JFK-LAX-SYD.

I'll let you know if I do.

Since AA knows they are going to do this every spring to fall why don't they put the 757 in the schedule for the summer, instead of loading a 767?
I have sent an email, via aa.com, to customer relations, to ask they refund the miles and cancel the mileage upgrade. For a 757, I only want to use stickers.

Sounds like the 767s and the 777s will be sent to those new european destinations (e.g., BCN, SVO, etc). Wonder if/when any new 777-223ERs will arrive from Boeing...

Where, pray tell, are the A300s going?

Slight correction: AA will be flying to DME, not SVO.

One of the BOS-LHR rt currently uses a 763. It will definitely be a 777 in the summer.

I know where I liked to see the A300s go, into the desert. Possibly, to beef up FLL routes to Central America to defend against Spirit?
