ORD to NRT in Feb on AA. Choose JAL instead?

I am on AA153 to NRT in business class. Is there any reason why I should have chosen the JAL flight instead? I have been on JAL business before and like their seats and their service. Never been to Japan on AA business class. From a miles perspective, I see that I will get 100+25% if I travel on JAL. I am a platinum member. Points will be 1.5/mile. Anything else?

Thanks in advance. I remember seeing a thread similar to this a few months ago but could not pull it up using the search function.

assuming all else is equal (fare, etc), by all means go JAL. It is far superior service in my opinion...

With JAL you won't get the Plat bonus (100% bonus) miles unless you book as an AA codeshare. In a couple months, same thing with BA. :td: on those cheap-asses.

I forgot about the 100% Platinum bonus miles.

What about the seats? I like the JAL shell lie flat seats. Are the AA business seats similar? Are they lie flat?

Thanks again.

AA is in a transition period with the 777 Business cabin - somewhat over half have the "NGBC" seats, which recline flat at about a 9 degree angle from horizontal; the remaining older seats are what some FTers call the "Lazy Boy" reclining seat. Which you would get is merely conjecture at this point.

Thanks for all the responses. I guess it is a guess whether this specific flight will have the new seats.

Now I have to try and find someone with an eVIP! I just missed making EXP this year.
