How close are folks cutting it for renewal?

Just did my end of year math and I'll be at 100,942 after another trip got added on this month. Good thing - I screwed up and booked a single flight number from SNA-DFW-PHL (-127 EQP for me, do not pass go, do not collect $200). Would have been a real bummer as I'd planned to finish at 100,052 for the year.

How close are others cutting it?

Have two trips to FRA coming up this year and should end up with 52.700 miles for PLT ^

I was lucky to find reasonable fares though

If my calculations are correct I'll end up at about 101,000 and change. Just gonna barely make it. May not be so lucky next year. Just to make sure doing a DFW-SEA-DFW turn on Saturday. Got a cheap fare and only have to get off the plane in SEA so that the agent can scan my boarding pass for the flight home.

Would have made EXP by 449 miles. Due to a "double counting" snafu, I'll make it by more 3K miles.

Cheers.

101,551 Does anybody have any experience with any perks given by any AA personnel for the actual qualifying flight? Seems it might be acknowledged from time to time...

Dec 15 2007 SJO-DFW for my EXP renewal, prolly just one more flight after that, since that will just be less than be halfway home.

Significantly more of my work has been regionally local (auto travel - wish I could claim all the BIS hours toward status.)

I expect lots of perks during my threshold crossover flight - free drinks, some kind of food, and a chocolate chip cookie perhaps. Oh, those were already scheduled... and I don't think there's any way AA employees would know that would be my requal flight anyway.

I qualified through a challenge for Platinum last year and my husband qualified for gold. This year we'll both requalify but we will be pretty close, 50505 for me and 25381 for him. I think I may have one more business trip after Thanksgiving though so I won't be cutting it quite so close. Couldn't have done it without all of the good advice on flyertalk.

I will pass 50,000 on Sunday, and travel for the rest of the year will put me in the high 50s. It is always that way. I doubt I can ever make EXP any year, but Platinum is fine.

Well it's sad on my end - I have little over 15K in miles so far and after next week's last scheduled trip I will break just over 21K for the year. I've been PLAT for the last 7 years and I am not even making gold this year! Two years ago I did buy up to PLAT to keep status.
