Maybe the investors read the threads here (26-hour diversion, rude FA, ...)
Those threads remind me of the TV commercial "Who do you think we are...Hertz?"

Released bad outlook

Revenue per available seat mile expected to increase 3.7% to 4.7% which according to this article "seems to be trailing that of its legacy peers"

Oil is also in the ballpark of record highs, and a soft economy means less demand for air travel.

People are electing to pay their mortgages instead of go on mileage runs.

I imagine that we are in for a round of guidance reductions from airlines if fuel prices stay where they are and the economy as a whole remains on the track that it is...

If you want to lose money fast, buy airline stocks. It is basically musical chairs - do you want to hold the stock when the music stops?

This industry loses money and burns capital. Just because you enjoy traveling doesn't mean airline stocks are a good investment.

Consider a trade when timing is right if you can't help yourself. There is a reason many brokerage houses have sell ratings on these stocks.

So True!
I feel like I'm wasting money paying my mortgage, for which I get no enjoyment, while forgoing MR's.
But, only 6 more months to go!!
