Credit Cards at Customs in JFK
 

Does anyone know if customs in JFK for arriving AA flights accepts credit cards? I'm coming back from Japan, and don't have a blank check or enough USD with me to cover the duty. Plus, I'd like the points :D

Also, since I'll be declaring the stuff I purchased overseas, and going through the dreaded "Red" line, does that make me more likely to get searched? I'm not trying to hide anything, but when I got randomly stopped and searched several years ago in SJU it took the guy almost an hour to go through two small suitcases...

Indeed US Customs takes credit cards. I often have things to declare and thus go through the "red" line and haven't noticed that line makes me more liable to a detailed search.

Thanks bdemaria! The customs website said some stations take credit cards, but I couldn't find a list of the ones that do anywhere.

Although they have credit card capability we have found that as often as not they claim it isn't working which creates hassles and time wasted until they manage to sort the whole thing out. Haven't tried the new Terminal 9 as yet. Our experiences were all in Terminal 8 in the last few years.
