It appears that the 777 is being repleaced by a 763 ORD-MIA-ORD and 777 is going away.

No only one way is 763 = ORD-MIA

MIA-ORD is still 777

Just want to confirm how come the seat map shows 2/2/2 on the 777? is it an error?
Isn't proper F Class = 1/2/1?

2/2/2 = Old first class seats (aka coffins)
1/2/1 = New first class suites

HAven't these phased these old seats out already? Isn't it 100% suites already? I heard on UA they are having the next generation suites already?

Why not go for the 762 and try for a first class upgrade? Not a bad use of miles from a D fare.

No. Probably be a year (maybe two) or more before all the coffins are replaced by suites. 25 have suites, 22 have coffins. Crapshoot as to which flights get which seats.

You didn't make it clear that you had no AA miles, as you didn't state what program you are with. If you are with CX, why not route via YVR and do YVR-JFK on CX metal? I'm guessing this will be more enjoyable than any AA first or business class on a domestic flight (but maybe someone with more than just anecdotal knowledge of CX can confirm/deny).

I needed to get to SFO and also flying AA on 2 Class i can get First Class which equates to more miles.

As I mentioned in a post a few months back I don't know why my name was on an upgrade list of the screen at JFK? I don't have any VIPs but they still listed me on the list?
