Exponential notation for 1 x "10 to the 6th", i.e. 1MM

Cheers.

I'm sure you'll find something to do with them! Upgrades on international mileage runs to requalify for EXP next year... International vacations with your family... Those long domestic routes that are tough for even EXPs to score upgrades on...

Yeah, US Airways is like that as well. Free upgrades even for a compainion. My wife and I both have status, so when we travel as a family all four of us typically get upgraded (for free!).

Congrats on your MM, OP. You mentioned AA counts all program miles... will they count EQM from DBEQM, or only RDM?

Never thought about it before, but it seems there is not a way (on FT) to prevent the caret from becoming a thumbs up.

I thought 10E6 = 1,000,000. Isn't 1E6 is quite a bit less?

I thought 10E6 = 1,000,000? Seems to me that 1E6 is quite a bit less.
The 'E' notation has an implied base of 10, with the stuff to the left of the E being the mantissa. It makes the notation easier. This way Avogadro's number, for example, is

6.02E23 as opposed to being 6.02 x 10E23 if the base were not implied.

So, 10E6 would actually be 10 million.

Yup, I had to go through one edit after I saw what I'd gotten

Well, I'll be darned. Thanks for the explanation!

(Not that it will stick for long, but it's interesting at the moment. )

Yep, I mean a million in scientific notation. I'm a physicist so even in general conversation I'll say things like "order of magnitude" and "nanosecond".

A hazard of the profession.

Just RDM toward the "program to date miles." I can't remember AA having had a double-eqm-and-double-rdm promotion, although they may have at some point.

AA has been known to take back eVIPs awarded to million milers who have utilized "creative" address tactics in order to get eVIPs where 500 milers were due

My parents fly nearly exclusively on awards (mass conversions of Marriott points in AA miles does come out to about a 1.5 cpRDM when I did the conversion). They have a number of Marriott timeshare properties, so they accumulate points at a very impressive rate, despite all the actual usage as stays on the very many trips they go on each year.

Thus I'm working on offering to the next tier of reletives--aunt/uncles and cousins. Two pair is on offer to a cousin to upgrade their honeymoon or other trip, as he is getting married Aug. 1. Saves me the cost of something else for a wedding gift.
