Strange Fare Code - Cannot find Fare Rules

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge on fare rules on tickets purchased through Travelocity.

I bought a last minute ticket on booking code Q. Its a Domestic TRANSCON flight from LGA to SFO with a stopover in BOS.

The fare code, according to the AA refund site is QNTWDBI.

I can't find this code (nor rules) at all in expert flyer, and I was told my ticket might be a "bulk" ticket.

So my question is regarding STANDING-BY and airport subsituting JFK for LGA.

I want to miss my flight on purpose (its an early morning 7am) and standby later for a non-stop flight from JFK.

Do-able? Any insight appreciated.

BTW, I'm just a regular PLT.

Thanks.

Have you tried to call AA?
They could answer your questions instead of us just speculating.

This is from what I understand, other FTs might have additional insight, while LGA and JFK are co-airports there are restrictions on certain tickets that prohibit exchanging one airport for another (this was told to me by both GAs and TAs when I tried going on an earlier flight-$25 standby from LAX to JFK instead of LAX/EWR). I would tend to doubt that if you did not show up for your LGA departure that you could standby for a later JFK flight.

Bulk tickets, often offered by third party and consolidators, are generally very restrictive. Again, other FTS may have more and/or precise information.

I have definately tried calling AA. I wouldn't hound you guys without doing my own research.

One lady at the PLT desk said to call Travelocity for fare rules on this ticket. She said they're in charge. Called Travelocity and they said call AA, no way they are in charge. Called PLT desk again, and AA agent says she can't pull up fare rules for this ticket. She was unsure why, and she said "it might be a bulk ticket". I asked "might?" She said "well, you need to call Travelocity." Then I said "I just did, they said to call you."

Anyway, I'll try both Travelocity and PLT desk again later, but thought I'd ask if anyone knew.

Even assuming a "standard" ticket - your strategy is very risky. Are you completely flexible on when you can get to SFO? I'm assuming you've checked EF and made sure there's plenty of availability on the JFK flight?

Just remember, the "flat-tire" exception, is not necessarily always easily given, and especially if you are switching terminals (even if co-terminals). Of course, it would be much safer to stand by for an earlier flight - but you don't have that option.

Just wanted to see if I could actually post the word "Travelocity."

Haha maybe I'm a little way too optimistic. I've ALWAYS (as in 100% of the time) made it on stand-by's because of status, so I've always thought of stand-by as "guaranteed." But you're right. Its not guaranteed, and I probably just been real lucky. Thanks for bringing me back to reality.

Finally got a solid answer from AA/Travelocity. No "voluntary" stand-by whatsoever. And of course, no co-terminal changes. If I miss my flight, that's it too. Its fly or nothing, pretty much.

Thanks for the responses all, I appreciate it.

You know, maybe it wasn't the keyword "Travelocity" by itself, maybe it was "Travelocity Last Minute Deals", the whole string. Maybe its the fact prior to my original post, I never posted anything before. Maybe its my IP that's flagged. Who knows? Bottom line, I tried posting 4 times, and the first 3 times it kept flagging my post as spam, and finally on the 4th time when I removed "Travelocity Last Minute Deals", it went through. <snip>

I know you can't miss your flight without telling them first, thanks for making sure I knew that.

Now, the AA guy at the PLT desk I spoke to sounded very on top of things. He looked up my ticket, and without me saying a word, he knew it was either from site59 or travelocity last minute. And without hesitation, he immediately said these tickets are different, and *specifically* said "no voluntary stand-bys". And he pretty much said even if I had a good reason, like a flat tire, or even called in advance, the ticket is only good for that particular flight. I agree rules can probably be bent in extreme circumstances, but "voluntary standing by" is out of the question in this case. At least according to him.

Okay, so let me re-iterate. Travelocity has no idea what's going on. Two PLT desk ladies have no clue either. One PLT desk guy says "certainly no stand-by". <ditto>

I was testing keywords that were in my original post that might have gotten my post marked as spam.

Very recently, I saw a FT message that said "you might have gotten this message if.... and one of the items on the list was "your message was marked as SPAM and is pending mod review" (or something like that) but I think that was under very odd circumstances (I might have been trying to post not realizing I was suspended  )

Unless there is some rarely-invoked SPAM-fighting feature here that I have no idea about-- which is certainly very possible.

But other than that, it's difficult (at least for me) to understand the problem you're having w/ your post being flagged as "spam". You should report that in the technical issues forum.

Yup, that was the message I got. At first I thought it was an IE 7 browser compatibility issue. Then I tried Firefox and still got the same message. So finally I changed up the keywords, and that fixed it. Regardless of what the true culprit is, I guess people now think I'm an idiot.

And JonNYC has definately been thru Spam-a-Lot here on the forums!
