His account was updates already. And they did not ask for any proof of being 1k.

My first PLT challenge

I'm stoked - I just signed up for my first challenge!

I have a BC trip planned DFW-LHR - it should do the trick!

Just done mine too LHR-EDU-MIA-DFW-LHR and had a great time in Florida. All in all great fun!

Remember the segment you qualify and become PLAT will be doubled as well so I got extra 4500 with the longest segment of my trip - well chuffed. Status got updated 3 days later. Waiting for my DBEQM to be posted now.

Have fun mate.

The latter is another perk, like the VIPs
I am not entirely sure what you mean by the above, but to be clear, currently one earns Lifetime Platininum upon hitting 2 million miles.

I think the point is that the awarding of Lifetime Platinum and the awarding of 4 SWUs for each million miles beyond 1 are disjoint promotions. That two of these happen at 2 million miles doesn't mean that they're linked to each other. Doing one won't affect the other. Furthermore, a change in one wouldn't necessarily affect the other. Lacking more specific information, it seems a good way to look at it.

Cheers.

Thanks - If it weren't for the Thanksgiving holiday I would leave early and have a bit of vacation. As it is, I'm not certain when my return date will be - it depends on how things go.

I signed my wife up without telling her how much it cost.

It is easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.
(Oh, she is happy that she is now a PLT)

Platinum Challange - Confused

So I currently have;
PER-NRT (QF)
NRT-LAX (AA)
LAX-JFK (AA)
JFK-NRT (AA)
NRT-PER (QF)

Now I know only AA flights count towards towards the challenge. If I book this route under the booking class 'O', will that get me 10000 points I require? I ask this because 'O' is a heavily discounted fare and I was wondering if the points earned:mileage flown ratio was still 1:1 or 1:2, either getting me ~ 5500 or 11000 miles.
Which one is it?

Thanks in advance.

Any further updates as to whether internationally purchased/non-US currency tickets screw up the challenge? Seems like we have one "yes" and one "no" response so far, but the "no" hasn't completed the challenge yet?

somewhere around 7336 points. NRT-LAX-JFK-NRT = 14671 miles, as you said, only AA flights get you the ponts needed for the challenge.

The aadvantage section on aa.com shows the points per mile you get for the different fare classes
O gets you .5 EQP/mi
http://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/pr...quirements.jsp

FWIW, O from North Americ to Latin America would get you no points.

Thanks a lot, that was the page I was looking for.

Just checking, the fare basis is; "O7PA3DJ', which is 'O' right?

yes the first letter of the farecode is the fare class. Good luck with your PLT challenge!
