Thumbs up Just Lucky, I guess

Got off of AA154 on Sunday and was met before customs by CK...weird as my colleague and I are only PLT, and just flew rt on paid, full J (upgraded to F by our corporate travel dept). It was very nice: escort through Customs, security and to the Flagship Lounge.

Did they say that they were CK? They also have Premium Services at some airports (may be the same folks, not sure). We've been met several times at LAX by Premium Services after arriving on international flights and having long layovers. They've offered to drive us to the FL. Of course, we declined as walking is far better than riding, but the offer was nice.

Cheers.

Yeah, she introduced herself as CK and had a black nametag on with it...was a nice touch, made me feel important (until I got home and wife put me back in my place).

Nancy Knipp is in charge of the AA lounges Worldwide,, why in the world would you think the CK falls under her portfolio?

She's also in charge of Premium Services. However, I believe CK is under AAdvantage or Sales, or at least customers can be recommended by sales. I know when I worked at the AA office in Miami, the sales team was in charge of submitting names for the program.

Actually, Premium Services is the umbrella organization at AA for Admirals Clubs, Flagship Lounges, ConciergeKey, and ALL services and programs for premium customers.

Sales might well be in charge of nominating/identifying potential members for CK (since it is largely a revenue-driven nomination), but the actual operation/services are delivered by Premium Services staff.

ConciergeKey is run out of Premium Services, or at least the ConciergeKey agents are part of Premium Services (which I didn't realize, until an agent whose a friend of mine told me, used to be classified as "management" employees).

I was moderately surprised when I arrived from NRT at LAX and there was a premium services agent (which turned out to be at the FL later) handing EXP (and presumably F passengers) the FL cards for the AC/FL at LAX to skip the line at the registration desk at the AC. Good thing too, the line actually went out the door that day.

The wiki needs to be expanded on... I'm in my second year as a CK and I definitely do not influence the travel of anyone except myself. I can pretty much guarantee that my membership invitation came purely through revenue since I'm definitely not a VIP anywhere else.

Don't forget that a wiki may be edited by anyone. If you have additional information to share (and it certainly sounds like it) please update the wiki so that it is more complete/correct ^

Cheers.

I second that. My wife and I both made CK this year. While I do buy tickets for family members, my wife does not. We are both Aairpass holders and combined we probably spend 75-100K a year with AA.

Edited to add the math for people who can't divide by two: Spend of 75-100K per year for a couple works out to $37K to $50K per year per person.

I think the following quote by an AA FA in another thread is relevant to the subject of this thread about CK:

AA has been making a big deal out of the Key members lately. What we all have been finding very strange is that while AA is going out of their way to act like it is a super elite status they aren't really treating them that way on the actual airplane. 3 times last week we received the special paperwork handoff detailing where the key members were and we were all baffled that they were in coach. If someone is giving you that much business why wouldn't you upgrade them if you could, regardless of points? We had a bunch of deadheading FAs sitting in F while the Keys were jammed in the back at crummy seats. Kind of weird. But, if that's how AA wants to do business, who are we to tell them otherwise? We sent them some PEDs and comped them drinks.
