SFO-JFK Question
Typically I fly on United's Premium Service from SFO-JFK (a reconfigured 3-class 757 that is more similar to United's international service). Could someone point me to a thread (or explain here) what American offers on this route? are photos available?

On LAX-JFK, American operates only 762 (3-class), while on SFO-JFK they operate 762 (3-class) and 763 (2-class) service. Obviously, all service on this route is widebody and currently in the process of being refurbished. The 763s are having the Next Generation Business class installed on them over the next 9-12 months (some planes already have it). More recently, they announced a refurbishment of the business and first class cabins on the 767-200 aircraft to more effectively compete with United.
Some relevant photos are below.

I have a followon question, if I may.
As an EXP, what percentage of the time have you been upgraded SFO-JFK and back (I noticed your upgrade percentage is extremely high!!)

Clearly SFO/LAX-JFK are among the toughest upgrades to get systemwide (the 777 DFW-MIA is also up there). Of the three times I have flown that route roundtrip this year so far, I have been upgraded 4/6 times with all six of those flights coming during the week. Rarely do I clear before heading to the airport, or its right at that 3/4 hour window.

Transcon 3 class F, albeit JFK-LAX. I suspect JFK-SFO is near identical on the 762.

Sorry if this has been mentioned on this forum before, but it looks like AA has added an evening departure from JFK to SFO.
It looks like the service begins in mid-August:
AA 17
JFK 08:05 PM
SFO 11:30 PM

I wonder if, like UA, they will not do the full meal service on >8pm departures. Pathetic.

I'm very glad that the 8pm departure has been added. DL, B6, CO, UA all have service around the same time or later while AA's last flight was around 6pm.

Ive been upgraded 20/22 flights between SFO and JFK as an EXP this year. Most of the time, they dont clear before the 4 hour window, and a few times they have cleared after boarding.
Ive had less success on the Monday 7AM JFK-SFO flight and the Sunday 5:50 JFK-SFO flight. Those seen to be more full.

AA 17 used to be a 5 PM deapture before it was axed in late 2002 or early 2003.
I flew it in F back when it was operated by a three-class 763 connecting to the CX 873. A great flight.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7290/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)
My upgrades have been 50/50 (7 out of 14 in the past year). My problem is that I ticket a few days before departure. I have much better luck on JFK-LAX segments.

The 15k upgrade SFO/LAX-JFK is one of the best uses of AAdvantage miles I've found, especially on the 763s. Particularly for the redeye, I'll route out of my way to fly through JFK. I've cleared 3/3 this year, usually on booking but always before the 100h window.

Can anyone describe any FC food/service/amenity differences SFO-JFK aboard two-cabin vs three-cabin aircraft?
