What are the consequences if......
 
Phone res. ticketed and upgraded what seems to be a non-upgradeable fare....
Will I lose the upgrade, be notified or forfeit?

Have you upgraded an international ticket or domestic? What is the fare code?

If we know those things, we can help you better.

The discounted rate..the late hour.... and failing eyesight....might have led me to a false conclusion.

If you don't already know, unlikes UA's fare structure, almost all of AA's fares are upgradeable.

What did you upgrade with? Miles/500-milers/VIPs?

Based on the responses here, I'd say you posted in the right forum, you're just flying the wrong airline. Should be AA. :D
