MCI -> HNL in P for challenge?
I'm about to pull the trigger on our second 'babymoon' to HNL and have on hold 2 tickets MCI->ORD->HNL (1/29) and then return of HNL->DFW->MCI (2/5). Am I correct to assume that I'll get 1.5x miles which will qualify my wife and I for a challenge fulfillment? I tried to read and search most threads and believe it would qualify. Would this be gold or platinum? 4638 + 4236 = 8874 x 1.5 = 13311. Are my numbers correct?
If I book the interisland through AA, would that help?
I'll pay with my Citi Biz Platinum AA, but I don't believe those points add an challenge benefit. Sure wish I could use the companion certificate with this one.
Thanks!

We'd need to know/see the original fare basis under which you purchased the ticket. I'm assuming it's a K-UP or Y-UP ticket, in which case the answer is yet, but I wouldn't want to say for sure without seeing the rest of the code. I imagine there might be some other kind of ticket that could result in a P inventory that doesn't earn 1.5...

Like a honeymoon, except we're celebrating a baby's arrival.
How do I find out the details on the fare basis?

Fares out of MCI tend to be really good. We used this for a trip to OGG in December, flying out of MCI instead of STL. Took at cheap flight to MCI on WN, and still saved several hundred $$$ per person. Quite the interesting airport arrangement, but really easy to get in and out.

If you paid for the discounted first price (around $1200 each), then yes, you get the 50% bonus on points and miles. You need 10k points for the platinum challenge, and would both qualify. Of course, if you bought a coach ticket and upgraded with miles, you would get the originally paid fares points, which would likely be .5 or 1. per mile.

Did it, done, now we're both PLATINUM as easy as a single RT. Now I need to figure out how to take advantage of it fully! Thanks!

And, if you'd been Gold before you became Plat, it would have posted as a "Plt Challenge Bonus-Gold Member" at a 75% bonus (the difference betwen the Gold and Plat bonuses). Quite shagadelic.
