Some AAdvantage elite members have been able to get 500 mile upgrade "stickers" pro-rata for missing 10,000 mile thresholds prior to reaching midnight the last day of February (when the MTEU counter resets) by contacting AAdvantage Customer Service ('phone or e-mail). Read on to learn of member's success, etc. In 2014.

For the record, sent an email to AA this afternoon. Was at 7,875, and within an hour of sending the email, had a response for 3 stickers. Fast response, and better than I thought on the outcome.

My wife and I (both multi-million mile lifetime Plat if that matters) sent emails almost identical in wording. I had 8,700 miles and she had 9,200. They gave me three upgrades, but only gave her two. Almost identical wording in their responses. She's mildly annoyed.

This experience and the previous two posts shows this whole process is pretty arbitrary.

The process is arbitrary but, given that the official rule is that the counter resets to zero and you get nothing, two stickers are better than none

My other half got 2 stickers as well for x9,150

I forgot about this. Is March 5th too late to ask?

And I was at 23920. Are 3920 miles too few to ask for partial credit?

No, it's not too late. Send them a quick email - you may get one sticker to add to your collection

Does one ever get e-500s for flying > 10k miles as an EXP and then being demoted to Plat on 3/1?? My first time in that scenario.

Nope. These are only earned by non-EXP elites. As EXP you have no counter for these "miles toward upgrades," so nothing earned.

Cheers.

LT plat, had 7233 orphan miles toward elite upgrades at the end of February. An email garnered 2 additional stickers within about an hour of being sent.

Thanks to all for the posts on this! I was 7 miles short and kicking myself when I saw this thread. Called and got 4 upgrades without problems.

How long time does it usually take before the stickers that CS has promised to credit show on the account? I called in this afternoon and got two stickers (for my parents who are GLD), but no stickers showing on their accounts yet.

When I called the lady said they can see it right away but I would not for a few days possibly.

I had almost 9,300 and got 3 stickers not to bad.

I called the EXP desk last week at 9200 miles. Was transferred to a general agent who was quite rude and said absolutely not would they give me any stickers. I took his name and employee ID # and plan to email AA about it
