Shoodawg, very respectfully, no one is on record.

We have no proof who posted that message.

Dear Swissbliss;

I would have expected that the emmiusa.com website would have been the first place that your mail in offer would have been posted. Is there a link to the page with this information? Or, when may we expect this resolution to be posted on the emmiusa.com website?

I would appreciate your considering to extend the mailing deadline through the January 10, 2007 date. This extension will give those of us that have entered codes into the system the full two weeks to allow for our Aadvantage points to be credited to our accounts. Should the miles earned from codes entered online not appear by Dec. 15th I would like to have time to mail these codes in to your office as well.

Thank you for your efforts here on the Flyertalk board.

What if I bought the cheese after 12/1 relying on the advertisement on the package?

So far, I am sad to say, the "integrity" appears to rest among those of us who made purchases in reliance on a corporate promise.

But one can always hope that a corporation will redeem its own integrity.

Try again, whoever you are. Don't you understand that the credibility of Emmi is gone?
Hang on; I agree that it's reasonable to be skeptical, but for now, I'm prepared to take this at face value. If nothing appears on the website by EOB Monday, then I'll treat this as a spoof.

Clearly, Emmi miscalculated, and then paniced; it seems that now they may have realized their error. If they really have realized their error now, and are trying to figure out how best to meet their obligations while minimizing their loss, then they'd be crazy not to run whatever they come up with by their lawyers before posting whwtever they come up with on their website. Frankly, it seems imprudent to have posted this message on FT (if indeed it isn't a spoof), but if it's genuine they deserve some credit for doing that.

What concerns me about this is that they may be trying to "buy off" the group (FTers) who are most likely to make trouble for them, leaving the regular Joes who are not FTers, but who see the products in a grocery store and buy 5 or 10 packs for an extra few miles, with nothing (other than the cheese...).

Those of us who bought large quantities will surely have kept the receipts - for the tax deduction. Joe Sixpack doesn't keep his grocery receipts.

Another concern is that presumably these packs are still on shelves, and people are going to buy them because of the miles. A co-worker of mine (not an FTer) told me last week that his wife had spotted these packs and bought all 12. If the packs are still on shelves other people across the country are going to be doing the same next week. Under the terms posted by Swissbliss, they are going to get screwed, and Emmi shouldn't be allowed to get away with that.

The good thing is that this message (genuine or not) turns this into more of a "drama" that will make a better story for the media - so more likely to get coverage. We should keep on emailing the media, to keep up the pressure on Emmi to honor the full terms of the offer for all consumers - not just the FTers who bought in bulk.

Come now, do you think a lawyer actually approved the attempted cancellation of the AAdvantage promotion?

I have to say, I am torn between different courses of action. Should we wait to take any action until we get some sort of official word from the company?

I am starting to think that maybe we should not. Their website (http://www.emmiusa.com/) clearly says:
Due to the popularity of this promotion, our supply of AAdvantage miles has been exhausted. However, we are pleased to offer a Swiss Army Knife, valued at $20 with a valid code. One (1) redemption per person or household. If you have a code, click here.
I am more inclined to beleive the website than an anonymous posting. Now, I do not mean this as a disrespect to Swissbliss, but, as others have stated, how are we to know that you are a representative of the company? especially given that your website clearly contradicts your postings here.

If this is a genuine offer, then please spell out all of the details for us, because, as you can imagine, some people are quite upset about this (especially after having spent thousands of dollars on your product). Please do not tell us to wait until Monday, because as you know, you clearly chose to release this information on a Friday afternoon for obvious PR damage control reasons. If we do not have a clear understanding of what is going on from a verifiable source then how can we do anything but contest what is clearly written on your website?

So, I am leaning towards thinking that a lot of emails need to get sent out today. However, I am willing to wait a few hours to see if Emmi have any official comment. What do you all think?

A number of questions that I have:

1) When will somebody from your company be available to speak with us about this? At the moment nobody is answering your phone.

2) you state that original receipts will only be accepted. However, what if, lets say, four people split the cost of a large order. There are four people with certificates and only one person with an original proof of purchase. What happens in this situation?

3) You did not mention what other information we need to send (apart from the proof of purchase). I am presuming: name, address, phone, AAdvantage number. Anything else?

4) Are you still honoring the two weeks from submission rule? or have you also changed that?

5) Is this offer being made available to everybody who purchased your product? or is there some reason why you have only posted it on Flyertalk and not on your website?

I'm sure there will be more questions to come...

I say, start writing.

Let's review today's events:
1. Unknown poster leaves message claiming to be CEO of Emmi USA and offers to make good on the original promotion EXCEPT for the coupons "already entered."

2. What happens with those coupons, representing many miles for many people, is not said.

3. Unknown poster leaves stating that nothing further will be said until next week.
In my book, while this may LOOK promising, it also looks questionable.

YMMV, of course.

No I don't; which is why I am willing to give them a couple of days to get their act together - while keeping the pressure up. From a legal point of view, Swissbliss's post (if genuine) is probably misguided.

More than two weeks have passed since the start of the promotion.

Are you implying we should do nothing? or do something? Can you elaborate a bit?

I don't see any reason to stop the pressure. They broke the contract, they changed the Terms and Conditions, they refuse to honor what they promised, so what are we waiting for? The more we wait, the more dilluted our efforts are. A lot of us have invested a lot of money in this, and they need to clearly know that we cannot just passively watch them do this.

Like I said in my first post - I think we should keep on emailing the media - Swissbliss's post makes it more of a "story", so better chance of getting coverage. Also keep emailing AA; but no point in emailing Emmi IMHO, as they are clearly now aware of how badly they messed up.

If genuine, I regard Swissbliss's post as a positive development - but inadequate. But we also need to set our expectations correctly - if Emmi are handling this properly, it will take a couple of days; we actually want them to think things through carefully, and get out of panic mode.

Really, my post was about setting our expectations; we are very unlikely to get a useful update from Emmi until Monday pm; anything before then will simply be more panic response. In the mean time, keep the pressure up.
