I don't think (1) are the originals either though are they?

This seems to be the original:

I'm guessing, based on nothing more than 8 1/2 years of experience on Flyertalk, that something like this will happen:

1) Emmi wakes up one morning real soon and reads all about this fiasco in the Wall Street Journal, and/or

2) Emmi gets a call or letter from AA lawyers demanding they honor the deal, and/or

3) Emmi calls their lawyers and learns that they don't have a leg to stand on.

Then this decision gets reversed. And I don't expect the whole process to take very long, maybe a week or so, to play out.

It seems odd that not a single person here has had any miles actually credited, yet they claim that they have no miles left. One would think the people here would have been among the first to redeem coupons.

Wouldn't they have had to purchase enough miles to cover the number of specially marked packages, or risk fraud charges ?

The Governor-elect is busy with the transition planning.

In any case, this would be a matter for the Consumer Protection Unit of the Attorney General's office and I have no doubt that Attorney General-Elect Andrew Cuomo will appoint a consumer advocate to this post.

In any case, the office does not stop working merely because the #1 job is in transition.

Date And Time Of Today's Message

Is there anyone here sufficiently internet-savvy to determine the exact posting date and time of the "offer withdrawl" message posted today?

FWIW, I sent emails to Emmi and also to AA CS, asking them to pressure Emmi in honoring the original terms. This would be horrible PR for AA and would jeopardize its ability/credibility in offering future promos with ALL of their partners. Do you think AA will contact them if they receive enough emails from all of us?

This is a very good idea. This sort of thinking is eventually made Alitalia honor its business class tickets to LCA that it unilaterally cancelled. Can we put together a list of email addresses to send letters to?

Who is the best contact at AA?

We should CC Emmi on everything we send.

Shall we start writing to the newpapers yet? I have a lovely picture of me and my dog standing next to a tower of cheese that really makes the point here.

I think giving these folks until Monday to reconsider might make sense and also, most news organizations will not run with this unless they can get a comment from the business involved which likely will not happen on a weekend.

No way, they should not be allowed to get away with this kind of deception. I firmly beleive we should let as many news outlets know about this as possible. It worked during the Alitalia fiasco and it will work for this. It will just take a lot of combined effort.

Have some faith in the legal system as well as the effects of publicity on a company that reneges on its promises.
