Crediting AA flights to Asia Miles

Dumb question: So if I want to credit my recently signed-up AsiaMiles account (10 digit number) with AA metal miles, I credit them to Cathay Pacific with the AsiaMiles number?

If you want your AA flights to earn Asiamiles credit, yes, you give AA your Asiamiles account instead of AA # during booking and checkin.

It does CX a while to credit your account though. Do keep your boarding passes and ticket until miles credited. I had to send fax to HK when CX failed to credit my parents's Asiamiles accounts for their domestic AA flights.

I've posted AA flights to Asiamiles.

Just tell the agent it's for Cathay Pacific. Mentioning the Asiamiles term seems to confuse them.

AA posts to CX every 10 days or so, so you'll have to wait a bit.

One thing to note is that CX posts real flight miles and do not round up to min of 500 miles. I.e. my DFW-AUS only posts like 150 miles or so instead of 500 miles on AAdvantage.

Yes, that was the question:
- I said "AsiaMiles" they said "huh?".
- I said Cathay, they said "Oh sure".
But I wanted to verify that AsiaMiles and credit to Cathay were the same thing.

You do know that Asia Miles expire rather quickly, and also they don't give you double points for status.

Yep. I am crediting them with one 500 mile flight to get the account open and receive their welcome packet and card. I will only put miles into the account (by transfer from Amex SPG) when I want a short, cheap mileage award.

I think the miles expire in 3 years. But they do give 50% miles on BA discount fares instead of 25% like AA and BA!
