Best food at / in DFW for AA (and other) flyers

I have an unexpected layover in DFW terminal D ... what is the "best" food in this terminal? The selection looks quite good (much better than in the other DFW terminals) but I have yet to try anything other than the fine bar at the AC. I know there must be many DFW experts on FT, and dimly remember Cool River and Rialto being mentioned as good in the past (might have the names wrong, but something like that).

For a current listing of DFW restaurants see here <link>

DFW SkyLink <link> is well signed, has two minutes headway (between trains) and average ride is 5 minutes between terminals, and is entirely airside

Is that a recommendation, or is that just where you usually go? What kind of food do they have?

I had a bowl lunch at the Chinese place a couple of months ago.

It was pretty mediocre.

When faced with the choice as to what food to buy while in Terminal D I choose Cool River. That's a recomendation I suppose, but its not gourmet.

There is also a sushi bar along with Champs, Popeyes, Fuddruckers, Benningans, McDowel's, and a Irish Pub.

I love the non-airport Cantina Laredo locations - the one in Addison was a block from the high school I attended so we went all the time - but I both times I tried the airport location I have been very disappointed...

The times I've had Blue Mesa, it has been on the same par as it's non-airport locations (which means it's good!).

Wound up eating at Cool River, had their chipotle burger which was OK but not great (and USD 11.25 plus tax and tip, so USD 15 total). Nice decor, if you like the kind of hunting lodge that serves water with a wedge of lemon in the glass (and antlers on display). Their wine prices are absurdly high (Jordan cab for USD 118 a bottle, for example).

Went for a walk around terminal D after eating, and next time the Irish pub by D20 will be my choice ... the food smells good, and more importantly they have a dozen Irish and Belgian beers on tap.

No one's mentioned Cousin's BBQ?? It's not the absolutely best BBQ, but it's one of the better options IMO at DFW.
