Tus-mia?

This is probably just a pipe dream, but does anyone think that TUS-MIA nonstop is a viable option for AA?

As I understand it, AA just recently added a 4th daily flight from TUS-ORD and an 8th daily flight from TUS-DFW. It would really be nice if they opened TUS-MIA for some of the connecting international routes to South America.

Some of the routing is just plain funky. DFW-MIA usually fills up pretty quick so you get routed from DFW to MSY, DFW to ATL, DFW to MCO, etc. That means FOUR flights to get from Tucson to Panana City, San Jose, Buenos Aires or Rio.

So I would really like to see a daily flight or two to Miami, but that probably won't happen. BTW, I wouldn't mind a TUS-LAX on American Eagle so I could stop flying UX or WN, although I don't mind either.

There are many cities inline ahead of TUS for non-stop service to MIA. I would think AA would open PHX-MIA before TUS-MIA.

Others

MKE
AUS
SAT
SAN
SEA
TUL
etc.

I don't see TUS-MIA - just not going to happen.

Also being stuck in TUS, we have to realize there really are no thru flights thru TUS. So everthing from TUS "WILL" go thru either ORD or DFW. Although I also would like to see Eagle to either LAX or LAS for connection options.

Yeah PHX would happen before Tus. I wish they would bring back the SEA nonstop as well.

I agree that any TUS-MIA nonstop flight is a longshot at best. However, I disagree somewhat that PHX would "get it first." America West currently has the only nonstop (that I can find) to Miami in the Phoenix market so if AA opened that route they would have to complete with them.

In Tucson, they would have the market to themselves with no competition, although it is a much smaller market. I am just thinking for my own selfish reasons it would sure make my life a whole lot easier with travel to Central and South America. But the market in Tucson probably couldn't support that flight anyway.
