Question Different RDU IFS First Service . . .

In another thread Sluggo, our resident AA FA said "The F service is unlike any other IFS service in the AA system". May asked for the details, but they were not provided.

What makes the RDU-LGW F service different? Details please.

Anyone, Anyone, Bueler...

I am taking a guess here but a la carte sounds more like the way they serve the food is different rather than the food that is served.

I.E. You can order anything off the menu rather than the prescribed setup as listed in the menu. Does that sound about right? It is more like DL's new BizElite service where you have choices of courses and time for those courses to be served.

I've was op-up'd to F on this flight and I didn't notice any difference from the JFK-LHR F service. It was well over a year ago so my memory might be fuzzy.

The F service on RDU-LGW is the same as other IFS flights. Several years ago, a pilot program was put into place where First service was la carte. The new service was to be expanded to all other IFS flights, but this was discontinued due to budget cutbacks.

From what I understand, the IFS service is now the same as other international flights.

Is there still a large RDU base of FAs that operate this route, or do FAs from all over fly this route too. Do they have to return on the same flight, or are there some FAs that return to other cities?

The F/A's are still RDU based unless it's changed very recently. The cockpit crews used to be DFW based. They'd do a 6 day trip as opposed to the 3 day that the F/A's did.... that's a lot of flyin'. Unsure if that's still the setup or not.

Six days make it a very nice trip! Do most AA crew return the following day after arrival? or are there some, like these pilots that get even longer?

For pilots-if still done:
Day 1 DFW-LGW Day 2 arrival Example Mon arrive Tue spend night LGW
Day 3 LGW-RDU Lv Wed ar Wed spend night
Day 4 RDU-LGW Day 5 arrival Lv Thur ar Fri spend night
Day 6 LGW-DFW Lv Sat arr Sat

Lv Mon from base return Sat is 6 days total with Mon being day 1 and Sat being day 6.

Have seen this on a few other routes every now and then.

Anyone every get a definitive answer? Any AA F/As out there know whether there is still a difference in the RDU First service? Thanks!

Personally, I think the answer is clearly "no."

Thanks. I guess that bit of info, coupled with the fact that route has coffins on the date I want to fly, will persuade me to connect through ORD instead.
