SMF flyers: red-eye is back from 4/3/06-09/5/06

I just noticed that the 0030 red-eye SMF-DFW is back from 4/3/06 to at least 9/5/06. This increases the options for travel to the East.

In particular, SMF-DFW-BDL-DFW-SMF can now be done as a one day MR, and the current price for Tues or Wed travel is $169 + tax!

Great find......I'm a fan of the single day MR....may be worth the drive to SMF.

JDiver Feb 23, 2006 4:49 pm

Yeow! That's a very good price, and good flight! Lady JDiver always flies back to BDL to visit rellies... Thanks!

Now we'll have to see if ORD is back in the flight plans. Nope! :td:

I noticed thsi as well a few days ago when trying to book some May travel adn was quite suprised (and pleased) especially after the realignment adn discussion in teh otehr recent thread.

Now we must hope for ORD and LAX flights, haha! yeah, right...

JDiver Feb 23, 2006 8:07 pm

SMF-LAX? That would be a treat - well, at least very helpful even on an RJ. Remember SMF-SNA? Sigh! I flew on the last SNA-SMF flight, a 757-223.

It also works for BDL-SMF

At $0.017 a mile it is very tempting for those of us PLTs still working on our lifetime status.

AA.com is showing two choices out of BDL - one with an immediate midnightish turn around, and one with a 5 hour turn. I've never been to SMF, so JDiver, as you are a frequent contributor to the iDine rating thread, I'm hoping you can tell me whether SMF has a restaurant close enough to the airport to make the extra time in Sacramento worthwhile. IDine preferred, but not required :D

Yeah, but it cost us the 1550(ish) flight they had added; which never flew. I woulda liked it... at least they are so far keeping the earlier first departure DFW SMF... arriving at 11a instead of the normal 1135-1140 arrival.

From doing this route 3 years now weekly; my bet is there is enough traffic to DFW only to support the later SMF departure; that never left...

I've lived here for 20 years, and while I really enjoy this area, I don't think there's a restaurant that's so special that I would build my mileage run around it. The Sacramento area is worth seeing, but it would take more than an evening to do so.
