Change to the $5.00 booze charge ?
 

I have been on European, Japan, and India flights in the last several weeks and seem to only recall the FA'a announcing the charge on the India flight for Y passengers. Am I mistaken or was it eliminated for EU and Japan flights ? I know UA doesnt charge for it on some routes but they do on others. Is it only Japan ?

Did you actually get booze for free or did they just not announce the charge?

Last time I flew to Europe, the $5 charge was alive and well, and they didn't "announce" it.

I believe Japan is free. The other destinations are not. The booze for sale in Y announcement was made on my very recent ORD-DUB flight. I sat in J so can't tell you if they actually did charge, but I assume they did.

I think you are right. Isat in J on all these flights so I dont have any first hand knowledge. The announcement seems optional. I will presume it is just to NRT for competitive reasons.
