AA 48 02/16/06 Bump

We were on AA Flight 48 DFW to CDG on 02/16/06 and were bumped along with six other passengers (there are two of us). We received $800 each in vouchers, suite at the Embassy Suites, and dinner, breakfast, and lunch vouchers.

We have not been bumped since 2001 and fly over 100,000 miles per year (combined paid and free trips). I'm still tingling! We will try again tonight.

Congrats!!! (assuming u didnt have pressing business, plans or connection in CDG) sounds like a great deal if it doesnt impact your other plans.

Le bump! Tres jolie... and we are assuming you had no non-refundable accommodations in Paris.

I'm a member of FlyerTalk! Of course, I tried to get confirmed business for the next flight; none were available but I'll keep trying; now we have Y fare codes instead of N. I did get placed on the volunteer list for today.

My hotel reservation for Paris could be canceled as late as noon today (Paris time). I changed the dates and can change again, without penalty, if needed.

I read, learn, and apply all pertinent data gleaned from this board. I'm a very good girl.

My Flight From Lax - Lhr tonight is overbooked and I hoping to try for the bump. There are assuring us that there will be no upgrades as even business is oversold by 4 seats. Got $500.00 at Christmas, $800.00 would be great

You know, you're beginning to sound an awfully lot like us! You may have to see if there's a URL for ftanonymous.com.

Enjoy, and kudos for doing it all right.

I'm sitting at the Admirals Club at Terminal D waiting to find out if AA48 is overbooked again today. I asked earlier and was told that they probably didn't need volunteers.

We were two of five passengers bumped yesterday. We again received $800, hotel accomodations (Holiday Inn), and meal vouchers. I went home instead of staying at the Holiday Inn (a stupid decision since I had to drive on possibly dangerous roads to DFW this morning).

Will post again this weekend if get bumped again. If not, I'll update Tuesday at the CDG Admirals Club. People who are not Flyer Talk fans, just don't get why someone would fly to Paris for two days and be thrilled to get $1,600 for missing two flights.

Still hoping for a business class upgrade but doesn't look good - too many people willing to pay for business.

Wow!! Congratulations on achieving the coveted double bump. $1600 in bump vouchers for one flight is putting you into possible record territory. Good luck on the trifecta.

I did just that is July 2002 - took two consective nights worth of bumps DFW-SCL. Got two night hotel & all my meals in DFW, $1,000 x 2 in VDB Vouchers, upgraded to P on the way down. Of course, I was only in SCL for the day (arrived at 7:00am and left at 9:00pm the same day!). The vouchers paid for a few vacations!

I'm back at work this morning after spending two days in Paris. But for $1,600 in vouchers, I'm willing to sacrifice a day in Paris; I've been five times in the past twelve months and will be going back soon.

AA 49 on 02/21/06 was only 1/2 to 3/4 full in coach. Business looked fairly full. I did not succeed in getting an upgrade to business but the two of us had five seats in coach. We also had power ports. The in-flight entertainment disappeared after the safety announcement and a portion of "King of Queens." I had my portable dvd player and lots of dvds so I was not inconvenienced. The food was fairly good for coach; we had chicken, risotto, and carrots; the chocolate pie was yummy. The pizza snack was ok and included mushrooms and other veggies (or maybe just the leftover carrots from lunch?).

The only bad thing about the flight happened just after touch down at DFW when a passenger sitting in row 21 pulled out a bottle of stinky cologne and liberally splashed himself with the smelly concoction. Fellow passengers were sneezing, coughing, and even choking from the stench. Of course, we taxied from the farthest part of the runway to Terminal D; I swear, I looked out the window and saw a picnic area just off the runway, but it may have been hallucinations from the stench of the bad cologne.

This was a great trip and almost equaled my best bump experience in my over 25 years of flying AA. My best was in 2000 when we were op-upped on the outward flight from ORD to ZRH, bumped for $500 on the return (with nice hotel and meal vouchers), bumped again the next day for the same amount, and then op-upped on the return flight. The return flight just happened to be the inaugural flight from ZRH to DFW so we got a cowboy hat and bandana from the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce to celebrate.
