Who is right: Me or AA CSR . . . ?

I have a flight on AA from MAN - ORD in fare class N and called the platinum AA desk to ask whether this fare recieves 100% ELITE QUALIFYING MILES or not. Mind you, NOT Elite Points, JUST ELITE QUALIFYING MILES.

CSR: N class get 100% even on international routes.

ME: Not so sure, i think N only gets 50%

Who is right . . . i hope its not me, or else i will upgrade to a V class.

Thanks
Nick

The CSR is right. Where did you get the information that you might only get 50% EQM? There are no .5 EQM routes. There is either 1.0 or, in a few cases, 0.0. Just curious why you thought this.

(And the 0.0 cases are: Tickets between North America and Europe, India, Asia and Latin America booked in O and Transatlantic tickets booked in Q are not eligible for mileage credit.)

Cheers.

Hi, Nick, and welcome, even though you are wrong. Some AA and oneworld partners assign a percentage of miles flown on some fares, but on AA it's all or nothing.

I do recommend checking aa.com's 2005 / 2006 AAdvantage Elite Qualifying Requirements page for the answer... which reveals

"Deep Discount G, Q**, N, O**, S 0.50 (Points per mile (full miles)

** Tickets between North America and Europe, India, Asia and Latin America booked in O and Transatlantic tickets booked in Q are not eligible.

Excludes Internet fares noted as non-mileage earning."

The "stickies" here, aa.com and using Search will answer lots of people's questions, and we can fill in the rest usually.

Cheers.

This information is easily obtained from https://www.aa.com/apps/AAdvantage/V...artnersContent where it says

Deep Discount Economy Class G, Q**, N, O**, S 100%

and for points at https://www.aa.com/content/AAdvantag...irements.jhtml

Deep Discount G, Q**, N, O**, S 0.50

Thanks for your replies . . . and boy, am i glad to be wrong.

I think my confusion arose from looking at partner airlines and what % of mileage you earn in different fare codes. Also, my flights was incredibly cheap and therefore i thought it was too good to be true.

Cheers
nick

PS I promise to use the search function more effectively.

No worries, Nick, and yeah, it IS nice you will earn 100% EQMs (Elite-Qualifying Miles, also not-so-jokingly called "butt-in-seat" miles around here) on an N fare. AA flights earn variable Elite-Qualifying Points - good for a Challenge (short-cut to elite status) or if you fly high fares usually, but not much else; most AA flights earn from 0.5 EQP per EQM on deeply discount fares, to 1.5 EQP per EQM on full-fare coach to First fares.

Stick around, and you can learn a lot - and join our chorus. Our songs include

"Have You Tried Search?"

"Check Out The Stickies!" and

"Have You Checked aa.com?"

Our mantras include

"If you don't like what they tell you, call back..." and

"YMMV!" (Your Mileage May Vary)

I forgot "Ommm, did my upgrade come through?"
