FA too busy reading... what would you do?

Hi Guys!

I usualy don't post any service related posts, but this is a must... I was on a MIA-YUL flight last night. three and half hour in business.

The flight attendent dat down in her seat for the first 2 hours, afterwhich she came and asked us what would like to drink, only once. when i asked her if there is dinner on this flight, she answered no when clearly THERE WAS!

She brough dinner later to two passengers (out of 4 in business) so me and my sister just sat there with one drink. I rang the attention bell once, she came by and i asked her for a refill, she said she was out.

After serving dinner to the two passengers, she sat down again and continued reading her book until we landed.

As i headed out of the plane, i asked the pilot if they had catering trouble, he said no.

As an EXP who have flown 180000 miles so far this year and counting, this really pissed me off...

What would you do if you were me? I usualy avoid writing letters and sounding like a crying baby... but in this case, clearly, this woman needed to do her job, and if she doesnt like it, she should quit!

WOW! That is ridiculous. I would write AA and let them know. Her behavior has no justification. This absolutely needs to be reported to AA. Ask for compensation of any form.

By the way, how old are you and your sister?

I'd write. If enough negative letters come to the attention of AA, they might be able to take some action (much like the current thread on the FL at LAX). I've written before and always got a response in a few days, be it a positive or negative letter.

Are you serious? What compensation would you suggest based on your past travel with AA?

as other poster suggested, I'd write a letter/email detailing your name & AA number, flight details, and FA description. What I'd ask for? If a paid flight, i'd ask for a refund on the difference between business & coach fare, as that was essentially what the OP got. If a non-rev ticket, the difference in mileage between biz & coach.

This is worse than "ridiculous" - it is totally unacceptable. The FA should be terminated - she did next to nothing, and certainly nothing even close to what she should have been doing. Heaven forbid there was an in-flight emergency. What was she planning on doing - telling people she'll be there when she is done with Chapter 8? Unreal.

Please, please write - these are the FAs that need to go..... Think of it like this, would you want to subject another F or J pax to this FAs behavior?

Thanks.

I agree with freeupgrade on this. AA needs to be notified of the poor service that you received from this individual. In today's day and age, it's not that hard to provide a great service, even with the lack of entertainment.

MIA-YUL I'm sure there was some type of food on that 3hr flight. Then when she said that she was 'out' of a drink after only one order, that is just ridiculous.

Send in that letter and inform them of the poor service!!!

I would not expect monetary compensation, for sure. But I would ask/expect miles, voucher, or another type of compensation.

The FA lied to the OP. She said there was no food, yet two people in F got food. The FA said she was out of a drink after one serving. Did the FA go to other end of the airplane to see of there was more of the specific drink requested? No.

I'm 25 she is 18. I was on a full fare Biz ticket. She was on a mileage award from my account.

I have never seen this type of service in my life, and clearly, i fly alot...

I will write AA... I don't want compensation... really.. not what i am looking for... i'm simply looking for getting F service (J in this case) when i pay for it...

My first thought was that the OP should have called the FA on her bad behavior right then and there- but then I realized this isn't like most "service" businesses because if you look crossways at an FA who's already having a bad day, he/she can decide you're a safety risk and create all kinds of havoc.

Is there any way to handle this on the plane without risking being escorted off in handcuffs?

Good point. About all you can do is ring the call button (several times in this case - if you ask me). If they fail to respond, then a letter is more than called for. Or, after the flight is parked at the gate, say somrthing like: "It was nice meeting yo. I forgot your name.... ". You are correct - heaven forbid the pax say anything remotely negative or have the nerve to ask for a drink on a 3.5 hr. flight in F.

How horrid. I agree that AA needs to hear about this - there is NO acceptable reason for this to have happened.
