Boston lucks out no more A300's

No more A300's for Boston after Oct. 29th. At one time they flew from BOS to LHR, CDG (of course), LAX, MIA and SJU. Good riddens.

One more reason to avoid MIA whenever possible. I think the A300 was the only thing decent about it.

AA never flew the AB3 BOS-LAX. In fact, I don't think AA has ever flown the AB3 to LAX at all.

Aren't the AB3 one of the worst aircrafts in AA? (The 2001 accident comes to mind!) However the 757 is no better.

My Favourite is the 763 and the 777. The rest of the fleet is pretty.....

I am comtemplating whether or not should I do BOS-LAX (non stop) on a 738 or go via ORD/DFW and at least get some comfort on a 777 or 763?

Any recommendations?

What difference does it make? You're just gonna' subject us to tales of how dreadful it was afterwards.

I just recently did the BOS - LAX on the 738 and it wasn't as bad as I heard it was going to be. I had exit row so that helped a good deal. My upgd didn't clear with a Full Y ticket but what's new. Too many EXPs and PLTs on board. All in all it was fine. What's your big gripe with the 738s?

If you don't have any experience on them why say that? - and I am sure there have been accidents of one kind or another on all the various aircraft (note aircraft is both singular and plural). For a lot of freight and a lot of passengers the A-300 is a workhorse and J is a lot roomier than in a 757. I have flown on them for 5 + years back and forth to SDQ and had one mechanical in the gate at MIA for a radio that they swapped out in an hour or so.

Well, waaaaaay back when they were first gearing-up the MIA hub, I flew an A300 MIA-LAX. Granted, it was in Aug 1990, but it DID have 2-4-2 seating in Y

I flew AA last week MIA-SJU in an A300 and return in their 752. It probably was the first time in 7 years I've flown AA. I thought the seat pitch to be very tight on both the 'bus and 757. Since I fly HP weekly I'm very fortunate to be up front 99% of the time. I guess my point is I recall one poster on here remarking "good riddance". I would say IMHO coach is coach is coach. Seat 23 Charlie on an A300 is no better nor no worse thatn 23Echo on a 733, 735, 752, A320, A319.....yadda yadda yadda.

MIA is primarily 737s now, and I'll take them over mad dogs and slaveships any day. They are so much better, they don't even have derogatory nicknames.

I def enjoy the 737s more so than the mad dogs. However, getting stuck in Y middle seat is never fun. At least MDs one side is only two people. I am not familiar with the term Slaveships - to what airplane are you referring?

757.. They've been calling them slaveships on this board. Here's a funny: the last time I was on a 757 the FA announced it as a "757 Luxury Jet"

If you recall, a few years ago I think AA "painted over" the part of their aircraft fuselages that said "Luxury Jet" or "Luxury Liner"
Put it this way -- there is nothing luxurious about AA's configuration of the 757. Now, the CO config with BusinessFirst up front, does have an element of luxury, if you can get up there...
