I tried it in Austin and got a response that they "don't service that area."

The link embeded in your post works fine. I signed up and was switched over earlier this month. It takes 5-6 weeks. I received a confirmation e-mail saying I had earned 3000 (2000 to join+1000 for autopay) AA miles (it also works for CO). They have not posted yet.

I've been with them since June and everything is great. Miles + monthly bill goes to my AA visa = double dip

Anyone know how their pricing compares to Reliant (in the Dallas service area)?

Reliant is about the same as TXU so Gexa is about 15% less. The bigger your house/pad/crib and the more juice you use in the summer, the more you will save.

I switched to Gexa from Reliant back in Sep 2004.
The initial bonus (2000+1000 auto pay) takes a while.
First bill was Oct'04, miles posted on Dec 9 '04 a long with first months credit.

Basically, everything takes 2 months to hit AA account (including subsequent months bills). But it is all smooth and easy. As for Elec rates, I believe still the best in town for DFW area.

Very happy with Gexa.

I've been using GEXA since last October. I've received my bonus points and the monthly points post promptly. I am in the Austin area.

I've switched providers three times since deregulation began, originally had a '3 year contract' for 6.8 cents per kwh but somehow the company decided to change that to 10.8 cents.

Anyway, GEXA is my most recent provider and proves to be one of the least cost.

I've experienced the following frustrations though...

1. My first AA bonus miles didn't post for something on the order of six months, but now seem to post regularly.
2. When I called to inquire about the AA miles not posting, the CSRs seemed to know nothing about what I was speaking about.
3. When I signed up for service (and again when I called in) I asked to be put on the auto payment plan, both times failed to work.
4. They offer no on-line access to your account - to view history, pay bills. Oh yeah, you can pay a bill, but that involves keying all your account information into PAYPAL for crying out loud.
5. Their customer service hours aren't nearly as extensive as others.

Still, if they offer service in your area, you'll get some of the lowest rates (they just increased their rates in Oncor service areas but they are still among the lowest).

As long as you don't mind the service hassles.

Great idea! I wish I'd seen this earlier. I just signed up for their service. My bill isn't high enough every month to generate many miles, but free miles are always a plus. Any thoughts on what would happen if I switch once miles post and then switch back? Do they have a system in place to check for us bonus addicts?

I've been with GEXA since they started offering service in the DFW area; As an existing customer they let me sign-up for the aadvantage miles program and I've been receiving miles regularly since, great way of getting an additional 500 miles a month in the summer!!

Angry GEXA does NOT honor their pubic offers, they lie

Signed up. Paid bills. Never got miles.

After four months, asked CSR. They said they had NO RECORD of my signing up for miles.

Thats AFTER I used the AA.COM website link to sign up.

CSR plays dumb about AA frequent flyer miles. My fault for not getting a printed screen shot of my sign up. Go figure that you cannot trust the offer coming over their website to be for real.

If smells like a pig, walks like a pig and talks like a pig,,,,then

GEXA IS A PIG!!!

They lie and fail to honor their promotions!!!
