Can single upgrade request clear ahead of 2 when only one upgrade seat released?
 

Sorry if this has been covered before but the lack of search makes it difficult to search for prior posts on this topic.

My wife and I are waitlisted for 2 eVIP upgrade seats Y-->C on same international PNR. No inventory available now. If only one C seats gets released into inventory days or weeks before the flight will an upgrade request futher down in the waitlist for a single upgrade get the released C inventory or will they be queued up behind the earlier two requests?

I get conflicting answers from EXP desk.

My understanding is that is what would happen-- the couple would get "skipped."

You should be able to select this when you put in the upgrade request. I have done this before and selected that we be split if/when a single seat opens up. But in that case you run the risk of not sitting in the same cabin.

Yes, in my experience that is exactly what happens. We've been caught on this once travelling as a family of three. Since then I'm careful how the PNR's are divided.
