Actually, the end of membership year is the end of Feb, so you didn't even have that right.

I'd hate to have 70K or 80K+ miles and not hit EXP, so sorry you were so close and may have to chalk 2003 up to experience....

How do you calculate your qual ratio? I have about 96k YTD miles and about 82k points... does that make my ratio ~1.2?

Ratio is points to miles. That makes your ratio 0.854. To achieve a 1.4 ratio with your mileage, you'd have to come up with a point balance of 134.4 (i.e., mostly first and some business class travel).

F and J travel are no longer necessary to build up a high ratio. Even full-fare coach earns 1.5 q-points per mile.

it takes 90,000 points (in combination with 95,000 miles) to even be considered for an exception.

This is a little bit off topic, but here is my case:

YTD Elite Qualifying Miles: 101,647
YTD Elite Qualifying Points: 79,566 (I'm only a college student)

Status: PLATINUM

Is there something in the rules I am missing?

I thought 100k+ QMiles = EXP???

Should I call someone???

Called AA Plat desk. Rep said they can't help and that I should call AA CS at 7:30.

I'm kind of worried because I remember the status on the website being updated automatically (i.e. when I made GLD and PLT).

Don't for a second be worried-- you're EP the system just doesn't know it for some reason. A quick phone call will clear it up-- assuming the system doesn't update overnight. When was your last flight?

Last flight was on Sunday, and the miles just posted 2 hours ago.

I guess I might just be a little bit anxious to get EXP for the first time .

I would say so! But, who could blame you. By the morning it'll probably be all set (or the next day at most.) Don't forget to update your PNRs where applicable. Congrats!!!

..and remember to go in and request upgrades for every domestic segment, if you're not already on the list. One of the best perks of EXP

So it finally cleared 2.5 hours after the miles were posted.

Thanks to all at FT for all the useful tips, and especially to timid_trnchcoat for suggesting the 4300 mile BOS-MIA-RSW-MIA-ORD-BOS $160 MR that made the final stretch for the 100k miles possible.

The feeling that I have gotten from CSAs that I've worked with is that this "closeness" might work for PLT but NEVER for EXP. (I know. "Never say never." If one were CEO of a major corp. customer, maybe. Even probably.)
