Couple of Qs about AA.com
 

I'm looking to do an MR coming up in October and have been looking at flights on Google Flights. Problem is that one of the flights is on US Airways and being a codeshare there isn't a big chance of an upgrade on that flight since I'll be doing it at 24 check in times. Is there a way to do a mixed itinerary but not be a code share when buying through AA? I'm sure there probably isn't and it's not for much longer and it's not a long flight but would like to upgrade where I can.

Second question is around pricing flights on the site itself. With US Airways when you put in a flight and search it gives you the prices of each leg of the trip so you can see if one later in the day is cheaper or one earlier is cheaper but I can't seem to do that with AA.com. Am I doing something incorrectly there or is that just the future that it will be harder to find the cheaper flight (on AA.com vs using Google Flights)? I don't book a lot on AA.com as I use my company's travel site and it prices the legs out for me as well and gives me cheaper alternatives once I pick a flight. So the non priced flights make it tougher to find cheaper alternatives (which obviously is advantageous to AA) but I definitely like the way that US does this.

I assume your flights are prior to 10/18? If its booked on aa.com and one or more of your flights is operated by US then those flights are codeshares. And no, aa.com does not break out fares one way. It will give you the cheapest fare but often you have to find which outbound gives the cheapest option and then see which returns are "Included." Also to get the lowest fare might show a "-$..." fare on the return. Of this can make finding the lowest fare a bit of work. I agree US makes it much easier.

To get US prime flights listed on AA.com, select "All carriers" in the advanced search page. They may or may not be the same price as the code shares.
