1 or 2 bags for multi city trip

hi,
this may have been answered but i cant seem to find an answer to it.
I am travelling on AA next week. CDG-NYC-GIG-NYC-CDG.
my stop overs in NYC are a few days so will be taking my luggage with me there. I was looking at baggage allowance and saw that i get 1 bag if im travelling from EU-USA however if im travelling to brazil i get 2 bags. Since my final destination is brazil do i get the 2 bags directly from paris or only from nyc?

thanks

Are the sectors on the same PNR? That is to ask if these are separately ticketed or purchased together?

Yes it all one PNR

Do you have a ticket receipt from AA?

mike84k Aug 11, 2015 3:43 pm

Yes, but unfortunatly says nothing about any of it. no baggage information either. I know brazil gets 2 bags free and both can be up to 32kg. If they consider the cdg-jfk allowance for that part of the trip i would only get 1 free bag of 23kg

It's a non-US e-ticket receipt thus no baggage allowance necessary in the body of the e-ticket receipt. But, if OP looks carefully, there should be links in what ought to be a 3-4 page doc.

This one is a bit of an oddity. Ordinarily, your allowance is the allowance for the marketing carrier of the first segment. Thus, one bag for all segments (I presume that you mean one ticket, not just one PNR).

But, because Brazilian law requires two bags for flights to/from Brazil, you will have a two-bag allowance on those two segments.

Your allowance will thus be:
CDG-JFK 1 bag
JFK-GIG 2 bags
GIG-JFK 2 bags
JFK-CDG 1 bag *
* - Presumes that you are also stopping over rather than connecting on the return. If connecting, your 2 bags will be checked through to CDG.

They dont consider CDG-GIG one sector even though i threw in a 2 day layover?

ok, made it much easier to figure it out. Called AA and they confirmed i get 2 bags up to 70 lbs
