AA106 Early Check In (AA operated, BA ticket)
 

Hi all,

Scheduled to fly the above flight in a couple of weeks (JFK-LHR) in Business. Just wondered is it possible to bag drop early in the morning then come back to the Airport in time for the flight? on a BA Ticket if that makes any difference.

A rule often mentioned but one I haven't seen published by AA is a four hour time limit for checking bags before flight. YMMV.

I've checked in more than 4 hours early at DFW for a TATL flight (checked in around 10am for a 5pm flight).

In 20 years of AA flying I've been quoted 12 hours, 8 hours, 4 hours and anytime the day you are actually flying. Twice on connect busts too long ago to really be relevant I've been told I have to take a suitcase I didn't need and drag it to the hotel and back. (Once because the scheduled reboarding would be more than 12 hours and once just because it would be overnight and the baggage operation would be closed). I'm not sure if those are data points or not.

I researched the website one of those times and found either the 12 or 8 hour max rule in print on the website, but that was way pre-merger. What I am seeing just today is a baggage policy in the post-merger new font, obviously recently reformatted and retyped, but only minimum check-in time stated and nothing about maximum.

If you e-mail AA and get a clear answer please let us know.

I think 8 hours is pretty standard for a international flight. As said above, I think it's best to email for official clarification

You can always swing by a nearby hotel and give the guy a few $ to check it until later.

If AA wont check it in for whatever reason, JFK does have a baggage storage service that is convenient. There is one in T8 by the baggage claim. Here's a link:
