Standby Ticket To Japan

Hi All,

So my grandpa used to work for AA and every year he gets so many standby tickets he or family members can use.

I was wondering if any has used these sort of standby tickets to fly overseas, specifically Japan, and what has been your experience as far as getting on flights the first try to and from Japan?

any advice would be helpful...Thanks!

That will depend on flight loads / demand, because would-be passengers with those passes have just about the lowest priority for boarding there is.
