Any have any thoughts as to best plane to fly DFW-LAX and back.

Outbound we are departing in the morning & have choice of 757, 738, 32B or 763.

May spring to pay for First or just do MCE.

Return would be a 763 or 32B.

Right now fares are the same & seats are pretty open.

Thanks.

DFW-LAX-DFW

763, 757/32B 738 will be last choice. I prefer double aisle overall.

763, 32B, 738 and the 757 if in Y. 763, 757, 32B, 738 if attempting to upgrade (757 more F seats than the 32B).

If you are springing for F, Id go with the 763 or 32B. The 763 has a nice angle flat bed, but NO IFE (or WIFI). The 32B's F seat sucks in comfort (to me), but the aircraft has WIFI and free good IFE in F.

If you are doing MCE, then I'd go with the 763 only. The IFE on the 32B isnt free in MCE and I prefer the cloth seats to the leather seats. I also prefer the 2 aisle more than the "new" plane. The 763 MCE is a nice mini-cabin which is comfy.

In the end, I wouldnt go anywhere near the 752 or the 738, unless the times are best.

The one with the best price and schedule is best.

If you are traveling in a pair and not in F, then I'd take the 763, even in Y-, but you have to bring your own IFE like in the old days. In F, the angle-flat bed is better than any single-aisle F offering (as long as it is working), but I'd be more likely to select based on price/time. Now if it was a 777 in F...

The best plane depends on your wants and needs for your trip. For DFW-LAX on AA, I wouldn't let PTVs dictate booking: a small number of 738s have PTV and a pmUS A321 which have no PTV could be substituted in place of a pmAA A321. So getting a PTV on most AA domestic flights is rolling the dice.

Purchasing First: 763
Purchasing MC/MCE and hoping for an upgrade: 763, 757
Want wi-fi: A321, 738

Best F seat will be on the 763. If in MCE, preference would be toward the shiny new 32B.

But really, for that relatively short of a flight, got with price/schedule.

Thanks everyone.

My husband and I are going on long overdue long weekend vacation Thursday-Monday Labor Day weekend and celebrating 20th anniversary.

We are taking a morning flight out and an afternoon flight back.

I was surprised to see no wifi on the 763 and didn't notice that before.

Will definitely need wifi on Thursday to keep up with our offices. Not as important on return as it will be a holiday but have not been on a flight w/o wifi in very long time even when spotty.

Looks like maybe the 763 will not work for us.

The 763s are primarily used on international routes which is why you won't find GoGo on them.

Except for some very limited scheduled cross fleeting (e.g. some EWR-PHX flights) and routes being taken over by US (e.g. LAX to RDU/BNA/PIT), we haven't seen AA aircraft being subbed for US aircraft yet. It will likely be some time before we see this happen, probably October at the earliest. But I'd expect most US aircraft to be based from legacy US hubs for some time.

Random thoughts not knowing your preferences

763 - like Y 2 seats on one side like F seats + its a wide body you can always bring your own entertainment

Id take 32B over any for Y bulkhead think seats are comfy like avod and wifi - F to me is meh! On this bird.

757 still a favorite using 2 Y seats up front but overhead storage stinks - pref F cabin on this to all others but a widebody.

You could book 738 or A321 on the outbound, 763 on the return
