Refund for cost of Preferred Seat when upgraded
On a JFK to LHR flight
Not wanting to risk sitting in regular coach seat I paid for preferred seating. (Half price as I am gold)
Was able to upgrade to using a family member's evip. Am I an entitled to a refund of the cost of the preferred seat
Tried the search feature with no luck

My experience is that it will automatically refund 1-2 weeks after your flight.
This is what happens when I upgrade from MCE that I paid for (as a gold) and have a 500mile upgrade clear.

Yes. I booked my sister a ticket in coach and put her on the UG list with my miles + copay.
She then paid for her own MCE seats on her CC#. When she was upgraded, she got a refund for the MCE payment on her CC# and I got charged miles + copay on my original CC#.

Refund to the original form of payment is automatically generated when the flight departs. Availability of funds may vary depending on your bank.
