Need help on mileage run out of SAN

This will be the longest run I've done. I'm on a Platinum challenge and I'm trying to knock it out quickly.

I can't seem to find a domestic weekend run under $700. I can only do my runs on weekends. This is the best I've been able to come up with so far...

Saturday: SAN-ORD-MIA-LAX (stay over)
Sunday: LAX-ORD-BOS-SAN

This itinerary nets me 10,450 miles.

Would it be cheaper/easier to do a transatlantic run?

This mileage run newbie needs expert help from the vets. Any comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A few things you didn't mention is how many Q-pts/miles you are into your challenge, and if you need 10K Q-pts or 10K Q-miles...

That said, SAN-LAX/SJC-JFK looks ok for about $220 (webfare) and about 6K Q-miles RT. This can be done Sat-Sun.

Try:
SAN-LAX-ORD-DFW-SAT/AUS
SAN-LAX-(ORD)-FLL
SAN-LAX-(ORD)-MIA-MCO

Each should be about $200 rt and net 5000-7000 miles rt.

The challenges only count Q-points, not miles. So if you'll only get half of the milage in q-points for a discount economy ticket. You might be better served doing a transatlantic run from SAN on a discount ticket.

As DCMike stated, I need a total of 10,000 Q-points. I have 2500 Q-points already in the bank, so I'll need one more coast to coast flight to complete the challenge.

I just booked the original itinerary. That's going to be one hell of a weekend.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate the help!
