777 Pacific being used on Atlantic route?

My apologies if this has been asked before, but does anyone know if AA has any intention of using the Atlantic 777 on the LAX-LHR run any time soon? I don't get why this big deal is made on their website about "Passengers in First Class on our state-of-the-art Boeing 777s flying transatlantic routes experience state-of-the-art in seating - our unique FLAGSHIP SUITE.", and then they are not even used on all the trans-atlantic routes.

Atlantic configured 777-200ER's are currently operating this service, both east and westbound, with Flagship Suite (1-2-1) configuration in First Class.

From 1st April, it appears that this service will be operated with a Pacific-configured aircraft. Why? Who knows? This makes no sense!

77Brit, I couldnt have gone in March, so I never looked at it, but you are absolutely right! It is bizarre! Here is another one. I got in the mail a big mailer a month or two ago, touting how the DFW-SCL route went to a 777 with the new suite configurations. Just looked (more out of curiosity than anything else), and not only is it not the 777 with the suites, but it is a 767!

I really normally wouldn't care. It is only 10 hours out of my life, and I am more than grateful that I am not in coach. But it does irritate me that they have advertised and are *currently* advertising something that they are not delivering. I have not had to play merry-go-plane with BA or CX, except when they sub a higher plane than the one advertised.

I'm sorry to hear about this as we're headed to LHR on a 777 in mid-April. First time in first class. I was looking forward to the Flagship Suites. But I'm with you, Darren, I'm just happy not to be sitting in coach.

I just came back from LAX-LHR on 136. Great flagship suites. I really feel that for a long flight like this the suites are great. I am very suprised that AA switched first class configurations on this route. In the future I may just connect at JFk to get the trans atlantic suites.

Some related threads:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum71/HTML/007765.html has a list of the configs of various flights to LHR (accurate as of at least a couple months ago)

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum71/HTML/007805.html is a thread I started re what compensation (if any) is due to a passenger who booked F on the basis of the AA website promise of F Suites on Atlantic routes (see http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/people/...inks/aa-fs.asp ) but then got the Pacific config.

I'll update that list next week, after the April 1st schedule changes.

What's so special about the flagship suites? Both 1st class configurations are flat beds.

So on BA, you would take an involuntary downgrade to J because they are still flat beds? No, I don't think so. Look, here is my point. AA isn't providing what is advertised. I am not complaining about the pacific configuration. Though the suites are that much better, the non-suites are pretty nice. Nor did I ever talk about complaining to them or asking for any sort of compensation. I have better things to do with my time. All I asked was whether they were going to use the Atlantic configuration on the Atlantic route any time soon.

I dont want anything from AA besides putting me on a plane and flying me to wherever I paid to fly to. What I do think should happen, though, is a removal or rewording of the current page where they are talking about the Flagship Suites because it is very misleading. It should at the very least have a disclaimer that aircraft can be substituted. Especially since for the rest of the year, the LAX-LHR route is on the pacifc config.

Be careful, JFK --> LHR also uses the Pacific configuration occasionally.

Do you have any experience with AA131 from LHR to JKF? Ms B Watson and I are on this flight 30 November.

BTW - when are we having Thai again?

Barton,
I have taken AA 131 from LHR-JFK and it usually is the ATLANTIC config. Service is excellent.
