Pres Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter was on AA1047 ORD to LAX on Friday, March 28th.
He sat in 3A. His secret service agent sat next to him in 3B. We were seated in 4E-F.

I could tell something was up with this flight, as several men in suits were coming in and out of the jetway prior to boarding. As we boarded the pilot greeted everyone.

After all passengers were boarded the pilot announced that Pres Carter was on the flight and he entered the plane with 3 secret service agents. He walked the entire plane and back shaking everyone's hands and then he was seated. The other two secret service were strategically seated on the plane.

When we landed at LAX, I saw three black SUV's parked at our gate. I followed Carter off the plane. Secret service were at side door on jetway and escorted him down to his waiting vehicles.

I don't agree with his politics but I respect his position. It was very interesting to sit just feet away from the former leader of the free world for 4.5 hrs and observe the security around him.

I can only imagine how my luggage was scanned and searched for that flight.

JFK-LAX, I'm in 2A, 1B is Gilbert Gottfried, very nice fellow, brief chat, asked him to sign autograph for friend with same first name. Please, if you haven't yet, avail yourself if this new service(as of 1/7/14)it is exceptional.

NO BORDERS JUST HORIZONS

I would have greatly enjoyed the experience despite the necessary SS and other security measures. Imagine the billing expense, no G650, etc.
Great work for Carter Center, internationally. Incidentally, "free" Secret Service details seem to end 10 years after last in office for presidents beginning with Bush-2.

Sat next to Drew Davis, wide receiver for the Falcons on a flight from DFW to ATL today. Didn't get to visit with him much but seemed like a nice guy.

Sat next to him and his dog (who spent most of the flight laying on a "bed" of pillows and blankets) on LAX-JFK the other day in F. He was, of course, eccentric, but very friendly with all of the flight attendants and pilots who asked for his autograph and picture.

I was just disappointed that Liv wasn't on the flight...

Samuel Trammel on AA12 on 5/2. Sat across the aisle from me in F. I had no idea who he was but could tell he was famous as he had an AA handler escort him to the FL before the flight and he read a script for most of the flight. 5 Star was waiting for him in JFK. He seemed surprised by the attention, but the AA representative said it was part of the 5 star service. I would guess he didn't book his ticket.

Semi related: connected to EY 100 (used AA miles) and sat in front of the Secretary General of the UN and his wife. Some environmental summit in Abu Dhabi this weekend.

Lester Holt of NBC News on ORD-LGA the other day. He stole my upgrade

We diverted to BUF when trying to land in LGA. He seemed to take it in stride. I didn't think about it before the diversion, but he also narrates "Why Planes Crash" on The Weather Channel. I was glad when we finally safely made it to LGA.
