There is another thread about the increased # of offerings on transcon premium cabins, in which I posted on Jan 2.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22067705-post16.html MCO-LAX, AA 205 (9:30am departure). Printed menu: Tomato, Leek and Turkey Bacon Strata with seasoned potatos and chicken apple sausage (an omelet thing) Smoked Lox and bagel, accompanied by bibb leaf lettuce, fresh sliced tomatos, cucumbers, caper berry and whipped cream cheese Steel Cut Oatmeal, with fresh berries and brown sugar - plus biscuits and bagels (no croissants) Plus cookies and snacks/whole fruit. (Those were also on the LAX-MCO in late December) No otherwise noticeable change to old services. |
MIA-LAX / 2-class F
Starter Thai-seasoned Breast of Chicken With grilled pineapple and watermelon, served with Asian mint dressing Salad Seasonal greens with fresh vegetables offered with chili cucumber salad. Entrees Grilled Fillet of Beef Served with sauteed spinach and kale, accompanied by poatoes au gratin OR Pumpkin Seed Crusted Breast of Chicken With brown butter sauce, served with sugar snap peas and mashed sweet potatoes OR Cheese Tortellini and Manicotti Duo Tortellini with pesto Alfredo sauce, accompanied by Florentine manciotti Deserts were the typical sundae or cheese plate, but the size of the ice cream scoop was noticeably larger. Pre-landing snack basket, whole fruit and warm cookies offered. Best domestic meal I've ever had on AA. The enhanced trans-con menu is of noticeably better quality than prior. Even the salad was of noticeably improved quality. The Thai chicken appetizer was delicious. Seriously amazing - I have a love of watermelon so I'm biased, but to say it's one of the best flavors I've ever tasted on a plane is not an exaggeration. The steak was much better than previous domestic steaks I have had. The sides are noticeably more generous in size. The FA's also did everything the way I expect it to be in F - PDBs served, appetizer/salad served separate from main course; main course brought individually to each passenger and not via cart; everybody greeted and thanked by name. Meal was served at a very nice pace - never rushed. Kudos to AA for the enhanced trans-con product. |
Anyone has any pictures of the new offerings?

Domestic First Class Meals
Has anyone tried any of the following entrees, if so any pics:confused:
Bocconcini Pasta, Grilled Herb Chicken ( same as last year's choice?) Also what's the latest on DFW-LAX service Midcon Plus or not:confused: Thanks |

MIA-AUA Snack. Choices were turkey sliders with coleslaw or lemon-chicken, quinoa, and rocket salad.
Based on others' advice on FT, I went for the salad which was ok. It had a bed of rocket, half a grilled lemon-chicken breast, and various bits on the different sides of the salad: a couple of table-spoonfulls of quinoa (rather bland), cut bits of boiled asparagus, red and yellow semi-dried tomatoes, and some crumbled feta cheese. It was ok - not great, not bad, ok. People across the aisle had the turkey sliders which looked like some big joke. 10 years ago most airlines wouldn't have dared to serve something that tiny in Y. The main was preceded by warm nuts and followed by an overcooked cookie (no choice for some reason). BTW, of my last 3 AA flights in F, all of roughly the same length (about 2h30-3h), one had no pre-departure drink (the shortest and evening one) one had a pre-departure drink of your choice (the middle length and early morning one), and one had a pre-filled tray pre-departure drink choice of water or orange juice (the longest and mid-morning one). Weird... |
Do 3-class F on JFK-LAX/SFO still serve the antipasti alongside the warmed nuts, with the new 3 entree choices?

I do have to say that the new Lentil Chili for Dinner is very good. My only complaint about it is that its just not very big. I'm looking forward to the summer as the salmon filets seem to be a summer thing only.
I am very impressed with the meal quality with AA. Getting a full, hot dinner on a 2:00 flight is pretty damn nice. |
Thanks, I answered my own question by looking at the A321 trip reports! Haha.
Another question though, about transcons - what happened to the fruit&cheese plate option for desserts? I thought they used to have 3 choices for desserts - sundae, fruit&cheese plate, and fruit garner salad... now, it's only sundae and fruit garner salad, no mention of fruit&cheese plate?

AA 1265
CMH - LAX No PDB. I saw something that I've never seen before - though as pointed out by BlissWorld below I guess isn't eye-opening. The FA handed out nuts and drinks from the cart, the nuts were on top of it along with wine glasses and she poured the liquor and soda into the cups on top of the cart next to the seats (if liquor was requested). Meal selection: Chicken Marsala or Butternut Gnocchi Went with the gnocchi which was fine and will try to post pictures when I can. Still can't get over the laziness of the FA though. |

I kid you not she walked down the FC aisle to give out nuts and drinks once we got in the air WITH THE CART. I wasn't aware that F had turned into economy-style drink service.
AA FAs serve drinks and meals from the trolley from time to time. That's just what they do. Delta does that too sometimes. UA is the only legacy airline who doesn't serve drinks/food from the trolley, at least in domestic/3 cabin first. |

Guess you learn something new, for all the negative things I have to say about UA, you're right that's one thing I've never seen on UA (though I've never seen it on DL either though my FC flying on them is more limited). |
1/2/14
DFW-PHL No PDB which surprised my husband. With US and UA, we've been at 100% with that. Nuts and drinks shortly after takeoff and a friendly crew. The MD80 was loud as hell; I haven't flown one in ages. Chicken pot pie crepe with mashed sweet potatoes Or Cold beef salad We both had the crepes and they were decent. Cookie for dessert later on. Overall a good flight and it'll only be better as they retire the Super 80s. We were tired from our NRT-dfw flight so I mostly zoned out while watching the ipad. It was a good day to be routed through DFW and not ORD! We also landed right before the snow landed in Philly, we were lucky! |
I had the "gnocchi" on a MIA-JFK flight on 1/1.
They were more like a small ravioli than what any Italian would consider to be gnocchi. Taste was fine, but it was not what I was expecting. |
So happy that my favorite AA breakfast item, steel cut oatmeal, is back. :)

25k EQP challenge from 1k. But good to know. This is probably my 40th flight on AA since mid-September (though a number of those didn't have FC) and on the flights with FC I have never seen them do that on AA.

Beef salad with udon noodles on the 2pm DFW-DCA. Ate about half of it. The other choice was chicken pot pie crepes which I've had before. Both of these are returning entrees. Not a fan of either. Looking forward to next month's meal rotation.

Interesting choice of breakfasts this morning on the CLT-DFW A319: oatmeal or "organic multigrain" cereal. Went with the oatmeal. Presentation was a bit disappointing with a styrofoam cup of hot water used to mix with the oats, but the oatmeal itself was excellent. Served with a banana nut muffin. Overall, better than the previous selection of bran flakes or nothing, so ^. Now if only they'd serve that hot water in a different vehicle...

Nice chicken salad on the noon DCA-ORD Eagle flight. They had some type of deli sandwich but they were gone by the last row (3 rows in F).
|
Last night on AA181 I had the same options shown on the menu posted by SFO777 in post #17. I had the beef, and was pleasantly surprised that the "sauteed spinach and kale" was really only lightly sauteed. Not gloopy like the dinner sides often are. A nice improvement.

IAH 11:35 p.m. ORD 2:05 p.m. CRJ-700 Lunch http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/834/az5e.jpg No choice. Turkey and cheese sandwich, I think it was turkey, the meat sort of looked like turkey, it did not taste like something else… Well, this was first for me. All CR7 first class meals I had so far was on cloth covered tray, using china/porcelain, metal cutlery, with cloth napkin. This meal, Styrofoam tray. Plastic knife, fork, and spoon. Paper napkin. No plates or what so ever, sandwich sitting directly on Styrofoam tray. Before screaming “US Airways-fication of F class meals!” I think this may have something to do with origin airport IAH. At IAH CR7 flights do not receive catering. IAH-DFW flights do not receive catering at IAH. IAH-MIA flights do receive catering at IAH, and when we had IAH-JFK that flights also received catering at IAH. Anyway, this plastic things on F meals may have something to do with CR7 flights at IAH not receiving catering. I have flown IAH-ORD before since I live at Houston area, just happened to be all my previous IAH-ORD flights were refreshment flights. I flew IAH-LAX on CR7 and F meals were on cloth and china like all other AA F meals… Have to say first time for me where AA’s F meal was like this. Or is this US Airways-fication of F meal service? I should add that drinks were served in real glass, not plastic. :) |

Could have been a wright saving measure, where did the plane come from DFW first then onto ORD?
The specific flight I took I remember “Incoming Flight Information” indicated that aircraft arrived at 12:50 a.m. from LAX and sat at IAH for nearly 11 hours. This is the reason I am suspecting the rotation of this specific aircraft had something to do with the meal on this specific flight. But again, could have still loaded cloth napkins, metal cutlery, etc. since those are not perishable. Hope this is not the indication of changes to come… |

1/13 PHX-DFW 1030a departure: chicken curry wrap with couscous and a chocolate chip cookie. I think the other choice was a steak salad.

I haven't flown AA since their planes had mountains on the tail (RIP Reno Air), so this was a new experience for me. Hope it doesn't change too much once Parker gets his claws into everything. It was nice change from the DL snack basket and the "meals" on Alaska. |
AA 1547
DFW-LAS, S80 (mad dogs are loud but comfy), "snack/brunch" PDB Warm nuts + bev Choice of grilled chicken salad or roast beef wrap, proper FEBO ordering but fail as the FA gave away all the salads by the time she got to row 6. Chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookie

My interpretation is it's more like butternut squash ravioli made out of gnocchi-ish dough with a sage cream sauce. Definitely not gnocchi but not entirely pasta. |
Yikes! That definitely looks like an economy meal recovered from 2000... but I strongly believe it was a mistake of some kind. If we see more reports of similar meals like this cropping up, then we can worry, but for now, I'm betting on some kind of miscater.

AA 214 MKE-DFW on 1/15/14
Scheduled departure was 5:40 pm Actual departure, due to late arriving AC, 6 No PDB Hot towels after drinks & warm nuts Entree was a choice of Dijoin Chicken or some kind of Chili/Polenta thing (sorry-went back to get the specifics from the reservation but it was already gone). Pre-ordered the chicken, which was acknowledged by the FA-still can't get over how moist it was, especially considering it was served on a plane! Salad was interesting-romaine, corn, black beans, & what I think was cesar dressing. Had not seen it before but liked it. Some kind of cake/bar thing for dessert-couldn't really identify it, but it was pretty good. No mints As soon as the FA's got up, lights in the cabin went out & I mean out-like they would on a red-eye. I know it's technically an evening flight, but come one guys-there is still dinner to serve & it was barely 6pm when we pushed back  |

Lentil Chili Served with seared polenta cake and jalapeño tomato jam I am imagining the dish to be like any chili dishes, soup like dish served in pasta bowl. Is it correct or this lentil chili something different than what I am thinking? |

Menu: http://i.imgur.com/4K86l4l.jpg?1 hot towel, warm nuts/beverage of course, salad not pictured. pretzel/cheese/rye bread Roast beef sandwich (served as a course after salad, don't remember if they normally do this vs all in one trays): http://i.imgur.com/0XCTPso.jpg?1 Cookies and cream with chocolate (not consistent with menu) http://i.imgur.com/HrSLKPI.jpg Whole fruit/snacks not offered on cart; but choc chip/white choc mac nut cookies & milk in wine glasses presented in cabin. I enjoy the classy touch, but from a practical standpoint, you can't dip cookies in a wine glass! |
