Dec 31 Flight = miles? [miles credit for calendar year limits]

Hi

Quick question, my flight leaves on Dec 31 and arrives in Europe the next day (1 January). Will the miles count towards this years 's balance? I will only get to platinum this year and only with that flight

Thanks

If the flight departs prior to midnight, then the miles count for 2013.

And, I believe, if it's scheduled to depart by midnight, but gets delayed until after, this will still hold, but not 100% sure on this. Certainly can be done with a call in this case if the miles are needed for status.

Our requal flight is on Dec. 26....so we're not pushing it that far

Cheers.

That sounds right as the date that posts on the mileage statement is the scheduled one and not the actual.

Now, the real question is whether you will get free champagne on board at the stroke of midnight?!?!

(and midnight which time zone?)

(and even if it's not your 21st birthday or honeymoon?)

But what if it's never actually midnight where you are?! For example, at 11:50pm, you cross into a timezone an hour ahead, making it 12:50am, you won't actually experience midnight !

Wich flight is it ? some TATL flights are canceled on DEC 31. Hope it's not the last one scheduled :-)

You could probably ask for ORC if AA cancels a flight that results in you falling short.

If time is continuous, time will accelerate from 11:50 pm to 12:50 am on an infinitesimal boundary!
