Does FC award allow extras?
If I am flying first class on award travel, can I check in at the first class line and does that allow me entrance into the Admirals club or do you have to be a member to enter? I have never flown first class unless it was a gift, which it has been on occasion, so I don't know what amenities you might get on award travel. This lowly coach flyer is excited about the confirmed FC trip.

Congrats. I believe if on Intl. First no
problem in getting into AC. If domestic I
do not believe this is a benefit. I am AC
member so have never had a chance or reason
to test system. Enjoy.

International First and Business gets you a complimentary admission into AC. No such luck if you are on domestic travel.

Flying on an award first ticket allows the privileges of a paid first ticket such as check-in and security lines plus lounge access if you would be entitled to (as others have said: international travel).

Note, you may also use the Admirals Club's on domestic trips, if you are flying in First or Business on a 3-class American Flagship Service flight. E.g., JFK-LAX, LAX-MIA etc. This is ONLY good on the three class AFS flights. </font>

Not a hypothetical question: what if you're flying from Europe to JFK with a looooong layover before onward travel to your home airport and you upgrade to first for the domestic portion of the flight --- no lounge, huh?

No. Not even if you upgraded on the international flight. The only way is to have club membership or be PLT/EXP.</font>
