No wonder they went bankrupt...
I also noticed the quarterly losses also posted on that page.

I also found the jobs in Yellowstone article interesting. I had no idea TWA also was involved in National Park contract work.

Thanks for the memories/post. As a NRSA back then when my dad was with TWA and a contract loan to Saudi Arabian Airlines, it was good to see some of the people in the newsletter we knew over the years (CTO London in particular).

Also, the first class service on the TATL 747 was good to see. Again, thanks for the memories!

Cheers...

Well, one thing is for sure, this reiterates the fact that an ambassador outranks an envoy

I got quite a kick out of the caption under the picture of the 747 that TWA had just bought from BA. It said they flew it directly to MCI. Haha, wish we still had 747 service directly to London from MCI.

Did TW actually operate regularly scheduled service MCI-LON? I got the impression that it was there for the maintenance base and that's where the TW paint job would be done and seats installed.

^^^^

I recently encountered a former TWA flight attendant who is now a realtor. She still showed the superior customer service of a TWA flight attendant.

Great post but showed even as far back as 81 the fate was sealed. Neither TWA or Pan Am had a chance post deregulation. They had been struggling for years.

Thanks for the post, as it brings back memories such as frequently seeing the two "Queen's Machines" parked overnight @ the terminal 3 gates for early AM departures. I thought the price of an international first class ticket was over $2500 according to story by Don Casey. Those were the days when TW owned Hilton hotels etc and dabbled in a lot of different non-airline product lines. I will always remember those years of flying TWA.

People said that about Continental in the late 80's early 90's too. Also US Air/US Airways.

IMHO, TWA's fate was probably sealed after flight 800 in 1996. If it weren't for it, they might have been able to recover like all of their peers.
