AMERICAN AIRLINES 777 FLAGSHIP SUITES

CABIN - FIRST CLASS
SUITES PER CABIN - 16
SUITE CONFIGURATION - 1-2-1
RECLINE - 180 DEGREES FULLY FLAT
LENGTH FULLY FLAT - 6 FEET, 6 INCHES
SEAT WIDTH/ARMRESTS UP - 21 INCHES
SEAT WIDTH/ARMRESTS DOWN - 30.5 INCHES

EXCLUSIVE FEATURES

Swivel capability allows you to swivel into 3 different positions.

Both armrests drop down for additional width and a more comfortable rest while in the bed mode. The drop down armrests also allow for greater ease of entry and exit to/from the bed while fully flat.

A separate upcline switch located right below the armrest allows customers an alternative way to more easily bring the seat up from the bed-mode position.

SEAT CONTROLS

The electronic seat control pad allows you to recline the seat, raise/lower/extend the footrest, and adjust the lumbar. A separate bed button will take the seat completely into the bed mode.

OTTOMAN

The ottoman has a dual feature. It allows the customer to sit and dine or meet with another passenger. It also extends the length of the bed with the seat is fully flat.

SWIVEL CAPABILITY ALLOWS...

Passengers travelling together to turn toward each other for dining or conversation. In center section, as many as four colleagues can meet or dine together at one time.

ADDITIONAL FLAGSHIP SUITE FEATURES

An oversized foldout tray table allows 2 guests to dine together.

A separate foldout worktable provides space for customers to work on laptops.

A mood light located above the personal video player illuminates to create additional light.

Privacy divider for centreline seats

Six-way adjustable leather headrest

Advanced lumbar support

Electronic seat controls

8.4” personal video monitor with a personal video player. (8mm tapes)

Personal reading light

Individual phone with integrated PCU

Electronic communications panel which contains the following:-
Powerport
Modem connection
Headset Jack
Mood light switch

FROM SEAT TO BED

The seat must be swivelled into the secondary position facing the ottoman for the seat controls to engage. By pressing and holding the ‘bed’ button, the seat will first begin to recline slightly, the footrest then raises until it is level with the ottoman, it then tracks forward until the footrest interfaces with the ottoman, the seat the finishes it’s recline until it is fully flat.

Deploying both armrests at this point makes for a wider bed and allows passengers to actually sleep on their side.

ENTERTAINMENT

Each suite comes equipped with a ‘pop-up’ video screen that can remain up for taxi/takeoff/landing. The video unit is touch-screen activated with 12 channels of audio and 10 channels of video programming. Also included is ‘Airshow’, which pinpoints the aircraft location on a map during its flight course. In addition, First Class customers have over 20 movie selections (8mm tapes) to choose from. Titles are found in AAtractions, AA’s in-flight entertainment guide. Bose Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headsets will also be distributed shortly after take-off.

NOTES

DVD ARE NOT OFFERED ON 777 AIRCRAFT AT THIS TIME

Current configuration is 16/42/194 with 1 seat in First Class designated as a pilot crew rest and 4 seats in Y designated for flight attendant crew rest. This configuration includes 60” re-pitch in Business Class.

All 777 aircraft re-configurations were completed on 28th February 2002. No more pacific-configuration aircraft will be converted to Atlantic, for the forseeable future. (if it changes, I'll let you know!)

Is this documented somewhere official? On the flights that I have enjoyed in the Flagship Suite, we have been instructed to stow our TVs for landing. Thanks.

Was there a placard on the screen? I recall the screens in the biz. class seats were placard "must be stowed for taxi, takeoff and landing".

Can someone remind me why the Pacific 777
is inferior? I recall reading something
about it, but my searches aren't producing
any results.

Thanks.

I don't know if it's an 'inferior' product. I guess it could be, depending upon your requirements.

The Pacific configuration First Class seats are similar to the 767-300ER three-class aircraft. The seats are still 'flat-bed' seats, but don't swivel or have niceties like the work table and mood light.

If you just want a big seat in which to sleep flat, the Pacific, IMHO, is fine. If you're going to work, the Flagship Suite is better for you, because you have more surfaces to put things on.

If you want to be sure of the configuration of the aircraft you are about to board, take a look at the 3 character fleet code on the nose landing gear doors.

Here's the key -

Pacific Configuration (18F-42J-163Y)
7AA,7AB,7AC,7AD,7AE,7AF,7AG,7AH,7AJ,7AK,7AL,7AM,7A N,7AP,7AR,7AS,7AT,7AU

Atlantic Configuration (16F-35J-194Y)
7AV,7AW,7AX,7AY,7BA,7BB,7BC,7BD,7BE,7BF,7BG,7BH,7B J,7BK,7BL,7BM,7BN,7BP,7BR,7BS,7BT,7BU,7BV

Yes, the entire 777-200ER fleet has now been re-configured to 60" pitch in the Business Class cabin. There are 6 rows on the Pacific, 5 rows on the Atlantic. The bigger cabin on the Pacific is because the Economy Cabin seats 163, whereas the Atlantic seats 194.

The seat width is 20", recline is 138 degrees. Please, if I've got the recline wrong again, can some please correct me? Thanks!
