Free Upgrades Y or B domestically for Exex Plats
Remember, AA now gives free upgrades for the B fare basis (use to be just Y).
Agents at the airport have to make a special entry to make the upgrade complimentary. 2 out of 3 times this week it was not done correctly and my upgrade account was charged.
If you are traveling in a B or Y fare basis, make sure you remind the airport folks about this new rule.
From AA:
NEW INFORMATION REGARDING COMPLIMENTARY UPGRADES
Effective immediately, Executive Platinum members and their companions will receive complimentary upgrades when traveling on economy class fares beginning with Y or B (previously this offer was only available for fares beginning with Y). This benefit applies to travel within and between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, The Bahamas and Bermuda. All standard upgrade rules apply

If I travel B, I find that my account is credited back for the upgrades automatically about a week later.

You would THINK that they wouldn't have to go through all of the deducting and re-crediting.
I just called AA and they credited it back.

Yes Executive Platinum members receive complimentary upgrades on both Y and B fares. And we do run a program to automatically replace any upgrades that were incorrectly deducted for this travel. They are generally replaced within 3 weeks of the trip.
