No more power in F-100s during de-icicing

WASHINGTON, March 29 (Reuters) - The running of auxiliary power units on Fokker F-28 jetliners [of which the F-100 is a variant] during de-icing will soon be banned after turbine shrapnel entered the cabin of an American Airlines plane earlier this month, U.S. aviation officials said on Friday.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the order would apply to about 100 U.S.-registered models of the twin-engined jetliner flown by AMR Corp.'s (AMR - news) American Airlines, US Airways (U - news) and Horizon Air, a unit of Alaska Air Group (ALK - news).

The F-28 Mark 100 was being de-iced at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport at the time. There were no injuries reported to passengers or crew.

Yeah, another reason for AA to can the F*kkers. I was on my AA18 commute last night, and the FA was talking to the guy sitting next to me. She said she has done everything she can to avoid certification on the F100. She likes sticking to 76 and 75 duty mostly.
