Long Selling a flight

Just booked my RTW ticket with the AA RTW reservationa desk, great people and I recommend using them.
For those of you who are interested here's the itin:
JFK-LAX-SYD-ADL-MEL-SYD-SIN-HKG-ICN-HKG-NRT-LHR-CDG-LHR-JFK

As we were making the reservations the agent informed me she would try to long sell my BA flight from SYD-SIN as it was the only way to book it.

Anyone know what Long Selling a ticket/reservation is?

Thanks

I think long sell is when you do not pull a seat from a inventroy display. Long selling is when you instruct the computer to book a seat on a specific flight/airline. The command is much longer then the first way so they call it a long sell.

The short sell for selling something from a display inventroy on a flight from SEA to DFW would be: 01y2

The long sell would be something like:
015marseadfwaa1971ynn1.

The above is not exaclty correct but you get the picture.

I thought long selling referred to selling the codeshare flight number without pulling it up normally as a continuation. i.e. the SYD-PER AA flight number without a corresponding LAX-SYD as an AA flight number.

The long sell format is:

0 (zero), flight #, Class, date, city pair, and then nn (for need need) and the number of seats.

So,

0AA1P12MARJFKLAXNN1
