Earning AA miles on IB ticket op by BA - will this work?

Most complicated flight ever. Direct flight from NYC to LON. Booked on Iberia (super cheap fare), Operated by BA. I would like to earn miles on American as I'm thisclose to gold.

How do I make sure that I can earn American miles on the ticket. I read the website but it didn't seem to clarify this particular issue (of flights booked on one partner and operated by a different partner).

If you're travelling before January 1, 2013 you'll get 60% EQM on your itinerary.

If you're flying after January 1, 2013 however, you'll get 80% base miles (unless you're travelling on a Y fare which I doubt since you said "super cheap fare")

Wow I read January 1, 2013, but understood it as 2014... Time to get my brain checked

This is addressed without ambiguity.

Earn miles when flying on Iberia marketed and operated flights for travel on an eligible published fare ticket. Miles are also earned on Iberia codeshare flights operated by oneworld carriers and oneworld affiliates.

That is correct (3Cforme is as well, of course). Flying on IB between the US and the UK earns 80% of Base / EQ Miles (whereas if flown US - Spain, 100%).

It's an IB marketed flight, but a BA operated flight -- hence the confusion. My ticket had a BA flight number, not an Iberia one. But either way I get between 80 - 100%, it seems.

Whatever is the flight number you are booked on is what you need to check

If you have a BA flight number , then check the BA earning rules
If you have a IB flight number , then check the IB earning rules

If it's an Iberia Marketed flight, it has an IB flight number. If it's a BA flight number, it's marketed by BA.

IB marketed but with a BA flight number is not possible, so you should check that out again.

But yes, either way, you'll earn 80%-100%.
