Last 762 AA 30 7 May 2014 - who's on it? etc. (consolidated)

It looks like the final 767-200 (762) service will now be on 07MAY14, AA030 Los Angeles to New York JFK. Blog post here on Airlineroute.net

Interesting observations by me is that the long gone 6 a.m. LAX-JFK departure is back (Yay!) and glad to see the 6:30 departure out of JFK back to LAX.

Wow, even in summer, SFO only gets 5x with A321T. We used to get 5x 762/763s last year alone, and now we get the same with smaller planes

You better get ready to swear. The way things are going, the only fitting way for the last flight to go is with one h*** of a MX. I think that pax will be expected to bring their own roll of duct tape.

I expected the last flight to be from LAX to the desert. I bet they could even get people to bid miles for that trip in an auction, regardless if it started in LAX or JFK.

I would be far too concerned that there may be an equipment change as the schedule grows nearer, whether it be an extension of 762 usage beyond 7 May or an accelerated retirement due to the availability of replacement airframes. I may consider using miles as an EXP though, since redeposit fees are waived.

Hopefully it will go up to 6x later but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't have a choice transcon, however, I choose to look forward not backward with respect to aging aircraft.

Do the current 762s have AVOD/IFE?

Or, since AA hasn't even taken delivery of the planes, there may be delivery delays or teething issues that don't allow them to ramp up their schedules as planned, leading AA to delay the retirement of the 762s.

Not built-in. J and F customers get tablets & Bose headphones for IFE.

Yes, this is also a risk substantial risk (as we saw with those who tried to fly on the initial 77W flights).

I think the 762s also have the GoGo streaming media service over WiFi; if so one could also call that IFE.

I'm avoiding it. Those aircraft are the absolute worst.

Planning to make the last flight of the MD-11 next year, but that is neither here nor there
